摘要： This invention relates to a novel fuel additive composition which provides reduced engine deposits and control of octane requirement increase in engines. The composition comprises: a) a Mannich reaction product of (i) a high molecular weight alkyl-substituted phenol, (ii) amine, and (iii) aldehyde wherein the ratio of (i) to (ii) to (iii) in the reaction is within the range of from 1.0:0.1-10:0.1-10; b) a polyoxyalkylene compound; and c) optionally, poly-.alpha.-olefin; wherein the additive composition contains from about 50 to about 90 wt. % of (a), from about 10 to about 50 wt. % of (b), and from about 0 to about 40 wt. % of (c).

摘要： A friction modifier for combustible fuels is provided that is prepared by combining a saturated carboxylic acid and an alkoxylated amine or etheramine. Furthermore, there also is an additive concentrate for use in fuels, especially in gasoline for internal combustion engines, comprising (a) a friction modifier comprising of a branched saturated carboxylic acid salt of an alkoxylated amine, such as isohexyloxypropylamine isostearate; (b) a detergent package, as well as the combustible fuels containing this additive concentrate. The particular selection of friction modifier (a) enables a stable additive concentrate to be formulated providing a significant benefit in friction loss when incorporated in gasoline used to fuel an internal combustion engine, and hence an improvement in fuel economy. Moreover, the use of the friction modifier (a) in combination with a detergent package permits increased fuel efficiency to be obtained without increasing the incidence of IVD deposits in combustion engines running on a fuel modified with the additive concentrate.

They are produced by reacting (a) at least one mono- or polycarboxylic acylating agent containing an average of from about 12 to about 50 carbon atoms in the molecule and having an acyclic aliphatic group containing an average of at least 12 but less than 30 carbon atoms, with (b) at least one alkanol polyamine containing an average of at least 4 carbon atoms. Succinimides made from 2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethanol have proved especially effective in reducing carburetor deposits.

The Mannich condensation reaction products are obtainable by reacting: (i) a polyamine having primary amino groups, (ii) a hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound, and (iii) an aldehyde, wherein the reaction is conducted at in a molar ratio of (i):(ii):(iii) of approximately 1:2:3 or 1:1:2. The Mannich detergent compounds may be dispersed in a liquid carrier to provide a fuel additive concentrate for hydrocarbon engine fuels which effectively control engine deposit formation in intake valves, port fuel injectors and combustion chambers.

摘要： The present application is directed to detergent base products and processes for forming the detergent base products. One embodiment of the process comprises forming a bis-Mannich intermediate compound by reacting (i) at least one hydroxyl substituted aromatic ring compound having on the ring an aliphatic hydrocarbyl substituent derived from a polyolefin having a number average molecular weight of about 500 to about 3000; (ii) at least one primary amine; and (iii) at least one aldehyde. The resulting bis-Mannich intermediate compound is then reacted with at least one second amine compound chosen from primary and secondary amines to form the detergent base product.

摘要： When a phenol having substituents in at least the 2- and 4-positions but having a hydrogen atom in the 6-position, or a phenol having substituents in at least the 2- and 6-positions but having a hydrogen atom in the 4-position is reacted with formaldehyde and 1,3-propanediamine, a unique insertion-condensation reaction occurs whereby the product is a hexahydropyrimidine derivative which may be represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is (i) a 2-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (ii) a 4-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions; and R.sub.2 is (i) a 2-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (ii) a 4-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (iii) a hydrogen atom. Uses for such compounds include their use as antioxidants and stabilizers for various substrates, such as fuels, lubricants, and functional fluids.
