    • A method and apparatus provides for delivering information to an idle mobile station in a group communication network includes delivering the information to the mobile station in special form, e.g., short data burst (SDB) form, if the information is smaller than a predetermined size limit. In one embodiment, the method and apparatus provides for encapsulating the information inside a frame, forwarding the frame to a server for delivery to the mobile station, and causing the server to extract the information from the frame and deliver the information to the mobile station on a forward common channel. In one embodiment, the method and apparatus provides for receiving information for delivery to the mobile station, the information being tagged for delivery on a forward common channel, and delivering the information to the mobile station on the forward common channel. In one aspect, the method delivers the information when the mobile station is in idle state with no traffic channel.

    • A method and system for preventing misforwarding of packets from an MPLS network to a virtual private network are disclosed. The method includes receiving a packet at an ingress edge node of the MPLS network, associating a cookie with a label bound to a route by an egress edge node of the MPLS network, and inserting the cookie on an MPLS label stack at the ingress edge node. The packet is transmitted over the MPLS network to an egress edge node. The cookie allows the egress edge node to detect if the transmitted packet is misforwarded by comparing the cookie in the label stack of the transmitted packet with a stored cookie label at the egress edge node.

    • An MPLS router operable for labeled switch path (LSP) operation defines a compression index for identifying a decompression context between other MPLS LSP routers. The compression index allows a multipoint-to-point link between MPLS routers, thereby avoiding an exhaustive mesh of point-to-point links between each of the MPLS routers. The originator ID identifies each of the multipoint originating endpoints at a common destination, and maintains the context of each compressed header to match incoming compressed headers to the corresponding header values. The originator ID, typically the IP address of the originator, operates as the compression index on the multipoint-to-point connection, operable to distinguish multiple originators of the multipoint-to-point connection and provide header compression for each.

    • A system, method, and computer program for providing a greater reliability for a direct-communication, such as push-to-talk communication, being bridged between members of a communicating group of wireless telecommunication devices.
