摘要： The location of unmodified wireless assets in a wireless communication network may be identified using time differences of arrivals of a communication sequence at different network receivers. Time-stamping devices may include correlator circuits in parallel with signal decoders to time-stamp communication sequences. Cellular wireless networks may be frequency-multiplexed to increase spatial time-stamping density. Tags may be attached to passive assets to provide location identification information to network devices. Locations of assets broadcasting standard 802.11 radio frequency structures may be identified. Noise inherent in correlating a communication sequence may be reduced by using a selected correlation function.

摘要： Optical scanning of one- and two-dimensional barcode symbols is carried out first in an aim mode wherein the symbol is scanned using a first scan pattern that is relatively small and dense so as to be visible to the user and thereafter using a second, larger and more robust scan pattern for decoding. During aiming, the symbol is partially decoded to determine type and orientation, and this information is applied to control the angle of the scan pattern produced, the rate at which the scan pattern is increased for optimum decoding, and the ultimate pattern size. Preferred scan patterns, as well as unique scan mechanisms, are described.

摘要： A hand-held optical reader for reading printed indicia on a remote target includes a light source for generating a scanning light beam and a detector for detecting the light reflected from the printed indicia. The light source and detector are housed within a housing having a window through which the light beam passes from the source to the target for reflection from the target to the detector. The housing includes parallel front and rear faces, each being generally rectangular in shape and having a lower portion and upper portion. The front and rear faces are joined by a substantially planar base face at their lower edges. The window is disposed in the front face with the reader being ergonomically configured so as be comfortably held in the hand of a user, with the user's palm adjacent the rear face to enable the user to direct the scanning light beam at a remote target.

摘要： A multi-bit digitizer for a bar code reader for detecting and reading bar code symbols, which are generally printed on a label or on the surface of an article. The multi-bit digitizer detects the presence of edges of a scanned bar code symbol, and also measures the strength of each detected edge therein. During a scanning operation, a sensor senses light reflected from a bar code symbol and produces an analog scan signal representative thereof. Positive and negative edges in the analog scan signal are detected, and timing signals are developed representative thereof. The strength of each detected edge in the analog scan signal is determined by measuring the pulse-widths of the timing signals. A separate edge-direction signal is also developed which indicates the nature of the edge. The signals are directed as inputs to a decoder which performs multiple threshold processing on each individual analog scan signal by processing each analog scan signal a multiple number of times at different detection threshold levels. The ability to perform multiple thresholding on a single scan is significant for the development of very aggressive wands in which only a single scan is available for processing.

摘要： Optical scanning is established by superimposing the alternating magnetic field of a coil magnet with the permanent field set up by a permanent magnet which surrounds the coil magnet. Both magnets are fixedly secured to a support at one axial end of the magnets and a flexible diaphragm is secured to the other axial end of the permanent magnet. A scanning mirror is effectively attached between the support and the diaphragm. When the coil magnet is activated, the diaphragm is rapidly flexed which causes the movement of the scanning mirror.

Data representing radio signal transmission characteristics between the fixed position location devices and fixed devices is recorded. Transmissions between the fixed position location devices and the fixed devices is monitored to determine changes in the characteristics of radio signal transmissions from the recorded data.
