A lift/latch mechanism lifts the upper platen relative to the lower portion without the use of a motor. The upper platen can be manually lifted by grabbing the handle. An arm is pivotably attached to an upper pivotable portion at an upper pivot and is pivotably attached to a lower pivotable portion at a lower pivot. When the upper platen is lifted, a heavy resilient member biases the upper platen to a raised position. When the upper platen is lowered, a light resilient member bias the upper platen to a lowered position. When a solenoid is actuated, projection engages the arm to move the arm and lift the upper platen.

The first layer, which is a seal coat, contains a swellable polymer, such as hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. In an embodiment the coating contains readily releasable volatile and non-volatile flavoring and cooling agents together with sweeteners, to provide an intense cooling effect which is instantly perceived by the consumer upon placing the dosage form in the oral cavity.

Detergent compositions of the invention include oral compositions for removing and loosening plaque and/or stains from a dental surface and oral compositions for reducing dental nerve and/or dentin sensitivity. The subject invention further provides an oral composition for reducing dental nerve and/or dentin sensitivity comprising an effective amount of an ingredient that possesses activity in reducing dental nerve and/or dentin sensitivity, an orally-acceptable vehicle, and a flavoring that does not contain a substantial amount of menthol in an amount effective to provide flavor to said composition. The subject invention also provides a mint flavoring that does not comprise a substantial amount of menthol, said mint flavoring being either a dementholated natural mint extract or a synthetic blend.
