摘要： The present invention relates to methods of identifying whether a candidate compound is a modulator of a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). In preferred embodiments, the GPCR is human. In other preferred embodiments, the GPCR is coupled to Gi and lowers the level of intracellular cAMP. In other preferred embodiments, the GPCR is expressed endogenously by adipocytes. In further preferred embodiments, the GPCR inhibits intracellular lipolysis. In other further preferred embodiments, the GPCR is a nicotinic acid receptor. The present invention also relates to methods of using a modulator of said GPCR. Preferred modulator is agonist. Agonists of the invention are useful as therapeutic agents for the prevention or treatment of metabolic-related disorders, including dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, stroke, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes.

摘要： A cleat is formed by a base plate and two dome-shaped, high friction surfaces, which secure a line or rope therebetween. In one preferred embodiment spiralling grooves form the high friction surfaces with the grooves following symmetrical opposing spirals on the two surfaces to permit easy insertion while also providing strong gripping action even against tension in the line. In another embodiment three dome-shaped elements are secured to a base plate with alternating spiralled-groove patterns to provide a convenient two line cleat which is useful, for example, in securing both lines from a jib when sailing.

摘要： Prosthetic devices are prepared for subepithelial implantation by coating their surfaces with a coating comprising crosslinked or uncrosslinked fibronectin. If the surface of the device comprises a material which does not normally bind fibronectin, it is pretreated, for example, by coating with poly(L-lysine). The coated prosthetic device is implanted by removing a portion of the epithelium, affixing the coated device to the subepithelial tissue optionally replacing all or part of the removed epithelium, and allowing new epithelial tissue to grow over and affix itself to the surface of the prosthetic device. The method of the invention can be used to implant contact lenses permanently beneath the epithelium of the cornea.

The caps are retained in the closed position on upstanding walls around openings in the base, which provide access to the outlet sockets. The caps include spaced-apart teeth and the walls include spaced-apart shoulders which engage in the closed position and prevent removal of the cap by a small child. A resilient sheet in the cap biases the teeth and shoulders into engagement. Depression of the cap toward the base followed by rotation are required for cap removal.
