摘要： An improved system and method for transparent storage reorganization is provided. A reorganization server may be used to consolidate storage from many servers to fewer servers or to distribute storage from a few servers to many servers. To do so, a legacy server name may be aliased to the network address of a reorganization server. The contents and permissions of each legacy share may then be copied to a unique share name on another server. A root may next be created on the reorganization server using the legacy server name, and a link that points to the legacy share copied on the other server may be created on that root. Any client may then request access to the relocated legacy share using the legacy share name.

摘要： According to some embodiments, a callback interface for web accessible services is provided. A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or similar address is issued by a host associated service to the user. User's browser provides the URL to an activity service, which on the user's behalf contacts the host service indicated by the URL and supporting the callback interface. The activity service then facilitates the user's requests on documents maintained by the host service through stateless calls to the host service providing web accessible services such as document manipulation, image processing, and similar ones.

摘要： A system and method that automatically and transparently enable access to prior file or folder versions for a selected file or folder. When a file or folder is selected for version location, such as via a user interface, prior versions are automatically located and time data (e.g., determined from timestamps) identifying each of the prior versions is displayed. The user can then select a prior version for restoration and thereby recover from changed file data. The present invention can be implemented using remote file servers, or with local file system volumes. Prior to displaying the versions for selection, attributes of the prior versions may be requested, whereby only versions that actually exist can be displayed, and/or only versions with possibly different data are displayed, reducing unnecessary selection for restoration.

摘要： A model in which filter drivers are managed to receive callbacks for I/O requests in which the filter drivers have registered an interest. Per-volume instances of filter drivers register with a filter manager for pre-callbacks (for I/O to the file system) and post-callbacks (for I/O from the file system), and identify which I/O requests (e.g., create, read, write) they are registering to receive callbacks. The filter manager orders the instances for callbacks. When an I/O request is received, the filter manager converts the I/O request to callback data and calls the interested filters in the callback order, whereby the filter instances can process the I/O data. As the request returns from the file system, filters desiring post callbacks are called in the reverse order. Efficient context management for the filters and other functions, such as non-reentrant file I/O, are also provided by the model.
