    • A zoom lens includes: first, second and third lens groups having negative refracting power, positive refracting power and positive refracting power, respectively, disposed in the order from an object side.     • There is provided a zoom lens system, compact and light in weight and having high image formation performance over the zoom entire range irrespective of object lens while covering the range from the broad angle side up to the telescopic end state side, which is used in video camera and/or digital still camera. A zoom lens system at least includes a first lens group GR1 having positive refractive power, a second lens group GR2 having negative refractive power, a third lens group GR3 having positive refractive power, a fourth lens group GR4 having positive refractive power, a fifth lens group GR5 having weak refractive power (including refractive power=0), and a sixth lens group GR6 having negative refractive power which are arranged in order from the object side to change spacings between the respective lens groups to thereby perform magnification changing or adjusting operation, wherein when group spacing between the i-th lens group and the j-th lens group at the wide-angle end state is DW(i-j), and group spacing between the i-th lens group and the j-th lens group at the telescopic end state is DT(i-j), the following conditional formulas (1), (2) and (3) are satisfied, and the fourth lens group GR4 is moved in the optical axis direction so that focusing operation is performed.     • A lens barrel including: a shooting optical system contained in a barrel and operable to lead a subject image to an image sensor; a back focus adjustment lens group constituting a part of the shooting optical system and operable to be fixed immovably after the position of the back focus adjustment lens group is adjusted in an optical axis direction of the shooting optical system; and a back focus adjustment mechanism operable to adjust the position of the back focus adjustment lens group in the optical axis direction. The back focus adjustment mechanism of the lens barrel includes a barrel engagement member possessing plural engagement surfaces arranged in the barrel in a circumferential direction centering on the optical axis, each of the plural engagement surfaces possessing a different height in a direction parallel with the optical axis, and a lens engagement member arranged in a lens holding frame which holds the back focus adjustment lens group, the lens engagement member being operable to be selectively engaged with the engagement surfaces. The back focus adjustment lens group of the lens barrel is adjusted in position in the optical axis direction by changing the engagement surfaces with which the lens engagement member is engaged. The adjoining engagement surfaces of the back focus adjustment mechanism are formed to possess one of increasing difference in height and decreasing difference in height along the circumferential direction.
