    • A 2D/3D switchable display device includes a light source unit; a polarization switching unit for switching light from the light source unit to one of first polarized light and second polarized light, which is perpendicular to the first polarized light; a parallax barrier including slits and barriers that are alternately arranged, wherein the slits transmit incident light and the barriers transmit one of the first and second polarized light and reflect the other of the first and second polarized light; and a display panel for modulating light transmitted through the parallax barrier in response to an image signal to create an image. The 2D/3D switchable display device controls an electric signal applied to the polarization switching unit so that a 2D image and a 3D image are switched to each other.

    • A 2D/3D convertible display apparatus and a method of driving the same are provided. The 2D/3D convertible display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel, a polarizing panel changing the direction of polarization of an incident light beam according to a signal applied thereto, a panel driver applying a driving signal to the liquid crystal display panel when receiving a vertical synchronization signal and applying a driving signal to the polarizing panel when receiving a stereo synchronization signal, and a synchronization signal generator generating the stereo synchronization signal to allow the panel driver to apply the driving signal to the polarizing panel in both 2D and 3D modes. Accordingly, the driving signal is applied to the polarizing panel in the 2D mode to solve a problem that the polarizing panel is off to cause a defective image to be displayed when the driving signal is not applied to the polarizing panel in the 2D mode.

    • An apparatus and method for driving a liquid crystal display to improve the quality of moving pictures are provided. The apparatus includes a transition check unit that determines whether an input image signal between a first frame and a second frame has changed and whether an input image signal between the second frame and a third frame has changed; an overdrive control unit that overdrives the input image signal in the second frame in an overdrive direction if the transition check unit determines that the input image signal between the first and second frames has changed, wherein the overdrive direction is one of an upper direction and lower direction; and an overdrive compensation unit that changes the input image signal in the third frame in an opposite direction to the overdrive direction if the transition check unit determines that the input image signal between the second and third frames has not changed.
