摘要： An edge-lit backlight having a light recycling cavity with concave transflector is disclosed. The edge-lit backlight has an output area and includes a back reflector facing the output area of the backlight. The backlight further includes a transflector that partially transmits and partially reflects incident light, the transflector being shaped to form a concave structure facing the back reflector to provide one or more recycling cavities therebetween, where the one or more recycling cavities substantially fill the output area of the backlight. The backlight further includes at least one light source positioned adjacent a first edge of the backlight. The at least one light source is operable to inject light into the one or more recycling cavities through an input surface of the one or more recycling cavities, where the input surface is substantially orthogonal to the output area, and where the at least one concave structure converges with the back reflector in a direction distal from the input surface.

The troffer comprises a light engine unit that is surrounded on its perimeter by a reflective pan. A back reflector defines a reflective interior surface of the light engine. To facilitate thermal dissipation, a heat sink is disposed proximate to the back reflector. A portion of the heat sink is exposed to the ambient room environment while another portion functions as a mount surface for the light sources that faces the back reflector. One or more light sources disposed along the heat sink mount surface emit light into an interior cavity where it can be mixed and/or shaped prior to emission. In some embodiments, one or more lens plates extend from the heat sink out to the back reflector.

摘要： An optical arrangement for a solid-state lamp is disclosed. A highly reflective secondary reflector is located adjacent to but not in contact with an optical element. In some embodiments, the reflector presents a white, diffuse reflective surface. A secondary reflector with a specular reflective surface can also be used. The secondary reflector can be made of various commercially available materials; for example, MCPET or polycarbide resin, and the arrangement can be used with an LED light source. In some example embodiments, the optical element and the highly reflective secondary reflector each have a plurality of lobes and the arrangement is suitable for an MR16 halogen lamp replacement. In other example embodiments, the highly reflective secondary reflector includes a plurality of recesses corresponding to a plurality of optical elements, and the arrangement is suitable for a PAR incandescent bulb replacement.

摘要： An elongated lens profile having reverse total internal reflection (TIR) features that improve light extraction when the lens is used in conjunction with a plurality of light emitters. Solid state light emitters, such as LEDs, are arranged proximate to the elongated lens along a longitudinal axis of the lens body. The emitters, which may be grouped in clusters, emit toward a receiving surface of the lens. The receiving surface includes a plurality of reverse TIR features, also disposed along the longitudinal axis. These features may be defined by a series of recessed areas spaced along the longitudinal axis to correspond with the light emitters which can protrude into the negative space created by the recessed features. The recessed features may have more than one shape. The reverse TIR features improve light output uniformity, reducing hot spots along the lens, and improve output efficiency.
