摘要： A device for guiding a charged particle beam comprising a first superconducting nano-channel. In one embodiment, the device comprises a superconducting nano-channel consisting essentially of a superconducting material in the form of a tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a bend disposed between said proximal end and said distal end. In another embodiment, the device is formed by a substrate, a first area of superconducting material coated on the substrate and having a first edge, a second area of superconducting material coated on the substrate and having a second edge, the first edge of the first area of superconducting material and the second edge of the second area of superconducting material are substantially parallel. In another embodiment, the device comprises a superconducting nano-channel formed by a plurality of nano-scale superconducting rods disposed around a central region.

摘要： An apparatus for producing an electron beam, comprising a support structure; a miniature ultrahigh vacuum chamber comprising a superconducting single walled metallic-type carbon nanotube comprised of a cylindrical wall, a proximal end disposed upon and sealed to the support structure, and a distal end comprising an electron-transparent structure; an electron beam emitting tip comprising a second carbon nanotube embedded in the support structure and disposed within the superconducting single walled metallic-type carbon nanotube, the second carbon nanotube having an inner surface with a thin conductive coating disposed thereupon; and means for creating an electrical potential difference the electron beam emitting tip and the cylindrical wall of said superconducting carbon nanotube. There is also provided a scanning electron microscope comprising an enclosed point source electron beam generator disposed within a conically tapered enclosure having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end in communication through an opening therein with a vacuum tube, and the distal end comprising a conical pipette tip target opening.

Another exemplary embodiment includes exposing water to a plasma gas to activate the water; adding an acetyl group donor to the activated water; and mixing the acetyl group donor and activated water to form a solution.

摘要： A merchandise security system includes a rail adapted to be secured to a first associated merchandising structure, which can be a shelf or a wire rack display. The rail includes a first longitudinally extending channel. At least one tile is mounted to the rail. The at least one tile extends away from the rail so as to approach a second associated merchandising structure spaced from the first associated merchandising structure. The at least one tile includes a protrusion which is accommodated in the first rail channel to enable a sliding movement of the tile in relation to the rail. This construction allows selective access to any desired portion of at least one of the first and second associated merchandising structures.

摘要： The computer pointing input device allows a user to determine the position of a cursor on a computer display. The position of the input device in relation to the display controls the position of the cursor, so that when a user points directly at the display, the cursor appears at the intersection of the display and the line of sight from of the input device. When the device is moved, the cursor appears to move on the display in exact relation to the input device. In addition, a cursor command unit allows the user to virtually operate the input device wherein changes in the position of the device allow the user to spatially invoke mouse functions. The computer pointing input device is designed to operate with a computer having a processor through a computer communication device.

摘要： An apparatus for conditioning gas for use in a medical procedure comprises a housing defining a chamber having an entry port and an exit port. The housing contains at least a humidification means comprising a container for liquid. A humidity sensor may be disposed within the chamber that senses the humidity of the gas exiting the chamber. A monitoring circuit is connected to the humidity sensor that detects when the chamber requires a recharge of liquid, and generates a recharge signal indicative thereof. A charging port on the housing provides access into the chamber to recharge the chamber with water. Alternatively, a backup container of liquid is provided to continuously supply liquid to the humidification means. A heating element and temperature sensor are also disposed within the chamber. A control circuit further regulates the temperature of the gas exiting the chamber.
