    • A card edge connector (1) comprises an insulative housing (10) having opposite top and bottom walls (12, 14) defining a central slot (142) therebetween for receiving the electronic card, a row of upper contacts (15) and a row of lower contacts (16) retained in the top and bottom walls, respectively. A supporting embossment (1461) is formed in each of the lower passageways. Each of the upper and lower contacts forms a retaining portion (150, 160), a mating beam (152, 162) and a soldering portion (154, 164) extending from opposite ends of the retaining portion, respectively. The mating beam of the lower contact is shorter than the mating beam of the upper contact and is apart from and above the supporting means with a distance which is within the spring limitation amount of the mating beam of a corresponding lower contact retained in the housing.

    • A jack connector (1) is provided for receiving a mating plug (4). The jack connector includes an insulative housing having an upper wall (20), a rear wall (22) and a pair of side walls (23, 24). A receiving space (26) is defined together by the upper wall, the rear wall and the pair of side walls. A rear corner (28) is formed between the upper wall and the rear wall. The rear corner has an inclined face (280) facing the receiving space. The inclined face is used for abutting against an oblique face (402) of a cone end (40) of the mating plug, thereby preventing the plug from moving too inwardly into the receiving space when the plug is inserted into the receiving space. Thus, an engagement of a front face of the housing of the jack connector with the plug is prevented when the plug mates with the jack connector. Accordingly, an abrasion/scrape of the front face of the housing of the jack connector by the plug is prevented.

    • An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing (1), a terminal module (2), a shielding shell (3), a pair of grounding plates (15), a pair of board locks (14) and a pair of rivets (13). The terminal module (2) is attached to the dielectric housing (1) so that a plurality of terminals (4) extends through a mating projection (8) of the housing (1). The shielding shell (3) encloses the mating projection (8). The board locks (14) and grounding plates (15) are fixed to both ends of the housing (1) by the rivets (13). Engaging legs (142) of the board locks (14) are adapted to mount to a printed circuit board and connect with a grounding trace of the printed circuit board. Thus the shielding shell (3) is electrically grounded to the grounding traces via the grounding plates (15) and board locks (14).
