摘要： Semiconductive polyolefin formulations are provided which are readily extrudable into films and coatings having low surface resistivity. The formulations of the invention are comprised of a polyethylene resin with 6 to 15 weight percent of a mixture of two different conductive carbon blacks. The conductive blacks have different structures as defined by their BET surface areas and dibutyl phthalate adsorption numbers. The extrudable semiconductive compositions of the invention have complex viscosities of 3000 to 10000 poise and dispersion numbers from 50 to 600. Extruded films having surface resistivities of less than 10 log ohms produced from the above-identified polyolefin compositions are also provided.

摘要： A supported polymerization catalyst component and a catalyst system useful in the production of polyolefin resins that have a narrow particle size distribution and enhanced crystallization rates is provided. The supported polymerization component comprises talc, an organomagnesium compound or complex, wherein the weight ratio of talc to magnesium in the organomagnesium compound or complex is from about 1000:1 to about 5:1, at least one transition metal containing compound and/or a metallocene effective in alpha-olefin polymerization reactions, and, optionally, an alcohol or a silane. The catalyst system of the instant invention includes the aforementioned alpha-olefin polymerization catalyst component and at least one aluminum-containing cocatalyst compound. A process for polymerizing or copolymerizing alpha-olefins, conducted under olefin polymerization conditions utilizing the inventive catalyst system of this invention is also described.

摘要： A stationary plate assembly for a rheometer that selectively provides steady state and dynamic testing of melt viscoelastic characteristics of a material sample. The stationary plate assembly has a stationary sample plate magnetically coupled to its supporting member. Therefore, after the steady state testing is complete, the movable plate, material sample and stationary plate may be moved vertically away from the stationary plate supporting member. Therefore, any spurious, erratic rotations of the movable plate when the rheometer is switched form the steady state test mode to the dynamic test mode will not cause a further working of the material sample.
