    • Distributed assembly of data packets into messages at a group of interface devices that receive data packets from within a coverage area. Each interface device in the group will take ownership of a sequence of data packets forming a message when a data packet of the message meeting predetermined criteria is received by that interface device. Once an interface device takes ownership of a sequence of data packets, it sends a request to the other interface devices for any missing data packets of the sequence that the ownership claiming interface does not have, and then assembles message upon receiving all the data packets of the sequence.

    • The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in a network having a plurality of subscriber devices. An embodiment includes a plurality of base stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region and a server. A cell-phone, capable of roaming between regions, is operable to establish a wireless link with the base stations and through the base stations, with the server. The network contains a communication policy determining from which other communication devices a subscriber device can receive voice calls. The communication policy is updated, by the server, based on requests from the subscriber devices. Once a request is received from a subscriber device, the determination whether to update the communication policy can be based on a record of rejections respective to the caller requested to be blocked. Alternatively, the communication policy can be updated according to a trust policy maintained on the server respective to the subscriber device making the request; the trust policy represents the procedure to follow when a request is received from that subscriber device.

    • One method involves the steps of causing a message to be sent to a relay network for delivery to a mobile device through one of a plurality of wireless networks coupled to the relay network; receiving, from the relay network, a result message when the mobile device is unavailable to receive the message, the result message comprising a message identifier; maintaining storage of the message in memory accessible by a host server after the result message is received; receiving, from the relay network, a status message which indicates that the mobile device is available to receive the message when the mobile device is available to receive the message; and causing the message to be sent again to the relay network for delivery to the mobile device in response to receiving the status message. During the unavailability, the relay network refrains from maintaining storage of the message.

    • A lock is disclosed to clamp a wheel of a motor vehicle or motor cycle to prevent its theft once parked. The locking device comprises a housing (1) having a base (2), a front face (3), an opposing rear face (4), two opposing side faces (5,6) and a hinged lid (7) to cover the internals of the housing (1). Pivoting arcuate arms (10,15) extend from the housing (1), A linkage comprises three links (20,21,22) extending between the arms (10,15). The wheel (41) of a vehicle is pushed against the linkage (20,21,22) causing the arms (10, 15) to assume a closed position flanking the rim of the wheel (41). A locking mechanism (39) is then turned to the locked position and the key removed thus preventing movement of the arms (10,15) to any open position. To release the wheel (41), the locking mechanism (39) is first unlocked and the wheel (41) then moved in a direction away from the front face (3), the arms (10,15) being moved by the wheel (41) in an outwards direction.
