    • A wireless communication system operating in the presence of the periodic noise signals such as from a microwave oven, the communication system, including at least two wireless communication stations with each station including a transceiver, each such transceiver. Each transceiver includes a detector for detecting periodic noise signals and producing a first signal indicating the presence of noise signal's quiescent period and second signals indicating the end of quiescent periods of such periodic noise signal. A controller responsive to the first and second noise signals controls the transceiver to provide effective communication with an other transceiver which minimizes the noise effect of the periodic noise signal. The transceiver transmits information concerning the detected quiescent period for use by the other transceiver to determine when to transmit during such quiescent period.

    • An apparatus for body surface mapping comprises a plurality of electrodes for attachment to spatially separate locations on a human torso with each electrode capable of detecting the electrical activity associated with a heartbeat and producing a corresponding voltage. The electrodes are sampled at a rate of 1 KHz during a cardiac cycle and sets of sampled values are produced and stored. Positional variations of the maximum and minimum sampled values over time are displayed as a projection of trajectories of the maximum and minimum sampled values in a three dimensional (x, y, t) space onto planes perpendicular to a plane containing the electrodes.

    • An adjustable control pedal for a motor vehicle includes a pivotable upper pedal arm having an arcuate slot formed therein, a link pivotable relative to the upper pedal arm, and a lower pedal arm having an upper end pivotably connected to the link and a lower end carrying a pedal. A drive assembly includes a screw supported by the upper pedal arm, a motor operatively connected to the screw to selectively rotate the screw, and a nut threadably engaging the screw and adapted to move along the screw upon rotation of the screw. The nut is pivotally connected to the link such that the link pivots relative to the upper pedal arm upon movement of the nut along the screw. A pin connected to the lower pedal arm and laterally extends into the slot such that the pin moves along the slot upon pivotal movement of the link. Also disclosed is a control pedal having a drive block or a pair of spaced apart pins located in a single slot of the upper pedal arm.

    • A grinding apparatus for thoroughly crushing, particulating and/or fragmenting materials that are firm or soft. The apparatus is particularly suitable for grinding plant leaf tissue. The grinding apparatus includes a rotatable reamer and a cup for receiving the reamer. The reamer has teeth that form a grinding surface, these teeth extending radially outward from a center point of the grinding surface. A second set of teeth form the inner bottom surface of the cup and provide another grinding surface. The cup teeth correspond to the reamer teeth so as to mesh therewith and produce a camming action during rotation of the reamer.
