    • The invention pertains to a method for manufacturing a metal strip (1) by means of continuous casting and rolling, wherein a thin slab (3) is initially cast in a casting machine (2) and this thin slab is subsequently rolled in at least one rolling train (4, 5) by utilizing the primary heat of the casting process, wherein a continuous manufacture of the metal strip (1) (continuous rolling) can be realized in a first operating mode by directly coupling the casting machine (2) to the at least one rolling train (4, 5), and wherein a discontinuous manufacture of the metal strip (1) (batch rolling) can be realized in a second operating mode by decoupling the casting machine (2) from the at least one rolling train (4, 5). In order to increase the flexibility of the system, the invention proposes that cast slabs (3) or preliminary strips (3′) are removed from the main transport line (6) downstream of the casting machine (2) referred to the strip transport direction (F) in the discontinuous manufacture of the metal strip (1), stored and subsequently transported back into the main transport line (6), wherein the removed slabs (3) or preliminary strips (3′) are heated to a desired temperature or maintained at a desired temperature prior to the transport back into the main transport line (6). The invention furthermore pertains to a device for manufacturing a metal strip (1) by means of continuous casting and rolling.

    • A rotor winder and a method for operating the rotor winder, wherein the rotor winder has two rotors supported in a rotatable rotor with two winders which are driven independently from one another and are provided for successive continuous winding of hot strip. The winders are moveable in cycles from an initial position into the coil transfer position by rotation of the rotor. A device is provided for guiding an incoming hot strip onto the winder mandrel of the winder positioned in the initial position and for holding the strip on the winder mandrel until a slip-free engagement of the strip is effected. The device for guiding and placing the incoming strip is arranged on a power-driven frame mounted so as to be moveable in a direction extending parallel to the axis of the winder.

    • The device serves to control the desired lifting and pressure-containing movements of strip pressure rolls for the reels which serve to store hot rolled strip. These reels have a rotating mandrel. The pressure rolls are actuated by piston and cylinder units for positioning the rolls electro-hydraulically in conformity with signals which indicate the relative position of the leading strip edge which rotates with the mandrel. The positioning of the roll, by the lifting and pressure-contacting movements, is effectd by position control with subordinated pressure control in a closed-circuit position control loop and a closed-circuit pressure control loop, by input of a setpoint position value which corresponds to the respectively prevailing pressure-contacting and lifting position of the pressure rolls, and by establishment of limited setpoint pressure values for both functions or directions of movement.
