    • A radio base station for use in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access network. The radio base station comprises a receiver for receiving radio signals transmitted over the air by users, and a first processor for processing the received signals in order to recover signals for a first group of users, the “cancellers”, and a first set of control signals for a second group of users, the “cancellees”. The radio base station further comprises an interference canceller for performing interference cancellation on the received signals using the recovered signals in order to generate an interference cancelled signal, a second processor for subsequently processing the interference cancelled signal in order to recover a second set of control signals for the cancellees, and a controller for using the control signals to control the transmission of data towards said cancellees.

    • The present invention relates to a network node and a method for providing macro diversity in a radio telecommunications network comprising a radio base station providing a radio link to a mobile terminal, the radio base station comprises communication resources for supporting the radio link to the mobile terminal and for supporting transmission of data between the mobile terminal and a network node. The invention comprises: —receiving a signal from the mobile terminal; estimating a signal quality parameter for the received signal; sending a first message to the mobile terminal instructing the mobile terminal to adjust at least a first transmission parameter if the signal quality parameter is below a quality target; and if the signal quality parameter is above the quality target, and if lack of the resources prevents the radio base station to relay data between the mobile terminal and the network node, sending the first message to the mobile terminal instructing the mobile terminal to adjust the at least one transmission parameter.

    • A radio access network node comprises a transport format selector (44) which uses plural input parameters for determining a transport format for a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH). The transport format selector is arranged to protect radio quality (e.g., the signal to noise ratio (SIR)) of the high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) against a radio quality fluctuation due to one or more of fast fading, power variations, or interference variations. The radio quality fluctuation may be a downlink power variation caused by or accompanying transmission on the high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) itself (or any other channel such as a DPCH). The radio quality fluctuation may jeopardize reliability of or render inaccurate (e.g., stale) a reported value for a first input parameter ascribed to a radio condition and utilized to determine the transport format. The transport format selector promotes radio quality of the high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) by compensating, in the determining of the transport format, for any inaccurate representation by the reported input value of a radio condition which may have changed at the time of transmission of the high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH). The first input parameter (for which the transport format selector anticipates a difference) can be, for example, a channel quality indicator (CQI) which represents the radio condition of radio channel quality.

    • A radio access network node and method of allocating cell downlink power to a set of channels (e.g., DPCH channels) and to a high-speed shared channel such as a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) or a high-speed shared control channel (HS_SCCH). After allocating part of the cell downlink power to the set of channels, the node allocates only a portion of the remainder of the cell downlink power to the high-speed shared channel.
