    • An absorbent structure in an absorbent article, such as a diaper, incontinence guard, sanitary napkin and the like, wherein the structure includes hydrophilic fibres and particles of a superabsorbent material and also has a front and a back part (4, 5) and a crotch part (6) located therebetween, said crotch part exhibiting a wetting region (16) within which the major part of discharged fluid is directed and wherein the absorbent structure in the wetting region includes superabsorbent particles that are encased in a material that will only dissolve slowly in and/or be penetrated slowly by the fluid to be absorbed so that the superabsorbent material will not begin to absorb fluid and swell to any appreciable extent until the encapsulating material has dissolved and/or been penetrated by the fluid and that conventional superabsorbent material (15) is localized generally in those parts of the structure that are located outside said wetting region.

    • The present invention relates to an absorbent body which is intended to form the absorbent element in an absorbent article, such as a diaper, an incontinence guard or a sanitary napkin, and includes a first absorbent layer which, in use, is intended to face towards the wearer, and a second absorbent layer which is intended, in use, to face away from the wearer. According to the invention, the absorbent body includes at least two mutually different cellulose fluffs, wherein the major part of the fibre structure of the first absorbent layer is comprised of a first type of cellulose fluff having low liquid-spreading ability and a critical bulk which exceeds 8 cm.sup.3 /g at 2.5 kPa, while the major part of the fibre structure of the second absorbent layer is comprised of a different type of cellulose fluff having a critical bulk beneath 8 cm.sup.3 /g at 2.5 kPa and a higher liquid-spreading ability than the cellulose fluff in the first absorbent layer. The second absorbent layer will therefore be highly capable of draining liquid from the first absorbent layer. The second absorbent layer includes superabsorbent material which is admixed generally uniformly in the cellulose fluff within at least one area of the layer.
