    • An aspect of the invention provides a system including: an SOI database that stores registered SOI data; a geographical information similarity determination module that determines if there is at least one set of registered SOI data whose geographical information is the same as or similar to that of the new SOI data by comparing the geographical information of the new SOI data and the geographical information of the registered SOI data; and an SOI database registration module that merges the registered SOI data of the SOI database with the geographical information or the non-geographical information of the new SOI data and stores the merged data in the SOI database if there is a set of registered SOI data whose geographical information is the same as or similar to that of the new SOI data as a result of determination of the geographical information similarity determination module.

    • The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel assembly having a plurality of scanning regions that include a plurality of pixels, respectively; a plurality of light source units that include a plurality of light sources supplying light to the plurality of scanning regions, respectively; a data driver that selects gray voltages corresponding to image signals and applies the selected gray voltages to the plurality of pixels as data signals, respectively; and a light source controller that controls the turning on and off of the light sources. One frame is divided into red, green, blue, and black fields, and the light source controller turns off the light source during the black field. Accordingly, the color mixing phenomenon is reduced, and the lighting time of the light source and the charging time of the pixels increase, thereby improving the image quality.

    • In a display apparatus, a data driver converts a first group of image data into a first data voltage based on a first gamma reference voltage during a first period and converts a second group of the image data into a second data voltage based on a second gamma reference voltage during the first period. The data driver converts the first group into the second image voltage during a second period and converts the second group into the first data voltage during the second period. First and second pixel groups receive the first and second data voltages to display first and second gray-scale images, respectively, during the first period, and receive the second and first data voltages to display the second and first gray-scale images, respectively, during the second period. Thus, display quality and viewing angle characteristic of the display apparatus are improved and flicker is prevented.
