    • One or more embodiments and methods of analyzing a formation sample with in a coring tool are disclosed herein. The methods and embodiments may include extracting a first core from a sidewall of a wellbore with a coring tool at a first depth, ultrasonically measuring a sound speed of the first core, transmitting the ultrasonically measured sound speed of the first core to a surface display unit, analyzing the ultrasonically measured sound speed in real time, determining the quality of the first core, extracting a second core at the first depth if the first core is determined to be low quality, and extracting the second core at a second depth if the core first is determined to be high quality.

    • A method according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure comprises disposing a tool in a wellbore, the tool comprising a displacement unit for pumping a fluid at least partially through the tool, a first flowline hydraulically connected to the displacement unit through a valve network, and a second flowline hydraulically connected to the displacement unit; pumping a fluid from the first flowline to the second flowline; monitoring a pressure at a chamber of the displacement unit; and monitoring flowing pressure in the first flowline across the valve network from the displacement unit.

    • A formation testing apparatus and method for obtaining samples with lower levels of contaminants is provided. Such a method can remove contaminants from at fluid sample, and can include the steps of obtaining fluid, from a formation and passing a first quantity of the fluid through a sample flow line. A connection between the sample flow line and a sample chamber can he opened, and a first portion of the first quantity of the fluid can be drawn into the sample chamber via a floating piston. The first portion can be forced out of the sample chamber, and this process can be repeated until sufficient contaminants have been removed. Finally, a second portion of the first quantity of the fluid can be drawn into the sample chamber as the fluid sample.
