摘要： An airbag module and method of mounting an airbag to the module. The module has an airbag, a gas generator, and a housing containing the airbag and the gas generator. The housing has a single-piece construction, including a container-shaped cover and a generator support foldably mounted to the cover. The airbag has a slot for inserting the gas generator, and a plurality of passages for passage of fasteners, which can be premounted to the gas generator. The slot forms two mount zones that can overlap. The airbag is folded into the cover or folded airbag can be placed into the cover. Thereafter, the gas generator is inserted into the airbag through the slot. The fasteners are inserted through the passages one at a time so that the mount zones overlap. The generator support is then folded over the cover, with the fasteners extending through the support via appropriate openings formed therethrough. The airbag module now can be seated and secured to a steering wheel using the fasteners and nuts.

摘要： An airbag arrangement and method includes an airbag module, which has a module housing and an airbag. The airbag is arranged so that it sequentially unfolds in various directions so that it ultimately becomes positioned in front of the passenger. The airbag has two sections, a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber inflates first and is forced to travel substantially laterally along the dashboard toward the A-frame, and rests there or the windshield or both. The airbag is twistingly connected relative to the housing so that as the first chamber inflates, it rests against the windshield or the A-frame and applies a torque thereagainst to stably position the first chamber. The first chamber becomes substantially centered about the front seat. Thereafter, the second chamber inflates toward the seat or the passenger seated therein.

摘要： An airbag arrangement and method includes an airbag module, which has a module housing and an airbag. The airbag is arranged so that it sequentially unfolds so that it ultimately becomes positioned in front of the passenger. The module is mounted along a roof region of the vehicle, in front of a passenger seat, with an opening of the housing facing toward the windshield. The airbag has a first section and a second section extending from the first section at an angle, which can be substantially at 90°. The first and second sections are configured to deploy substantially downwardly along the windshield. The second section is configured to further deploy toward the passenger, below the passenger's head level.
