摘要： An alkaline battery includes a cathode, an alkaline electrolyte, and a copper-based anode which reduces hydrogen gassing without a protective coating or plating to less than 50% of the gas production observed using tin-plated 260 brass. An alloy for an anode which reduces hydrogen gassing without a protective coating or plating to less than 50% of the gas production observed using tin-plated 260 brass includes 0.01% to 9.0% tin, no more than 1% of phosphorus, no more than 1% of incidental elements and impurities, and the balance copper, in wt %. Another alloy for an anode which reduces hydrogen gassing without a protective coating or plating to less than 50% of the gas production observed using tin-plated 260 brass includes 1.0% to 40% zinc, about 0.01% to 5.0% tin, no more than 1% of phosphorus, no more than 1% of incidental elements and impurities, and the balance copper, in wt %.
