An example brush holder assembly of an electric machine includes a carbon brush including an upper surface and a lower surface opposite the upper surface. 摘要： A shaft grounding and monitoring system may include a grounding member slidingly engageable with a rotating shaft. An electrical sensor may be configured to be coupled with the grounding member in order to detect an electrical parameter that provides an indication of electricity flowing from the rotating shaft to ground through the grounding member. A processor may be operably coupled with the electrical sensor and may receive and analyze data from the electrical sensor. The processor may be configured to periodically analyze the data representing the electrical parameter from the electrical sensor at a sampling rate and for a sampling period that is related to a rotation speed of the rotating shaft. A memory may be operably coupled with the processor and may be configured to store data processed by the processor that is representative of the data provided by the electrical sensor.

The brush holder assembly includes a handle that is moveable between an unlocked position in which the brush holder is removable from the mounting element and a locked position in which the brush holder is secured relative to the mounting element. A circuit board is disposed within the handle and includes a sensor that provides an indication of an occurrence of an anomalous and/or threshold condition of the carbon brush.

摘要： Methods and systems for monitoring a brush holder assembly and/or detecting wear of a brush in a brush holder assembly are disclosed. One method includes sending data from a plurality of remote monitoring locations to a central control unit, where the data may be evaluated in order to monitor states of brushes at a plurality of remote electrical facilities. For example, multiple images of a marker tracking longitudinal movement of the brush may be acquired. A comparison of the images, for example, a comparative imaging technique, such as pixel-by-pixel comparison, may then be performed in order to evaluate a condition of the brush, such as the wear rate, wear state, or life expectancy of the brush.
