摘要： A process for the preparation of ethylene and propylene wherein n-butane is cracked at high pressure in the presence of steam, preferably with ammonia in a reactor containing a solid support, at a temperature of from 550* to 750* C. for a residence time of 0.2 to 15 seconds to convert 40 to 90 percent of the n-butane. The reaction product is cooled and methane separated therefrom at a pressure not greater than that in the cracking reaction. The C4 fraction separated from the reaction product is recycled to the cracking step.
