    • The present invention provides a modulator which has a high degree of modulation and a good modulation sensitivity. The modulator comprises an oscillating circuit and a resonator portion, and this resonator portion comprises a reflective circuit board, a coupling line which is disposed on the reflective circuit board, a coupled load which is coupled to one end of the coupling line, a dielectric resonator which is disposed on the reflective circuit board and which is magnetically coupled with the coupling line, a window portion which is formed in the undersurface of the reflective circuit board directly beneath the coupling line, a waveguide resonator which is disposed on the undersurface of the reflective circuit board in the area that includes the window portion, and which is magnetically coupled with the coupling line, and a varactor diode which is inserted between the opposite signal conductor surfaces and of the waveguide resonator, and to which the input modulating signal terminal is connected. The other end of the coupling line constitute the output port of the resonator portion, and is connected to the input port of the oscillating circuit, and the end portion of the coupled load that is not coupled to the abovementioned coupling line is grounded.

    • In an outboard motor S, a first drive shaft 31 and a second drive shaft 32 are interlocked by an intermediate gear mechanism 33 including a drive gear 34 mounted on the first drive shaft 31 and a driven gear 35 mounted on the second drive shaft 32. The second drive shaft 32 is supported in an upper bearing 38 and a lower bearing 39 disposed on the upper and the lower side of the driven gear 35. The upper bearing 38 supports an upper end part 32a of the second drive shaft 32 extending upward from the driven gear 35 and the upper bearing 38 is at a vertical position coinciding with that of the drive gear 34. The lower bearing 39 is placed at a position on a lower end part 32b of the second drive shaft 32. The lower end part 32b extends between the driven gear 35 and an input gear 51 included in the output gear mechanism 50. The first drive shaft 31 drives an oil pump 70 for supplying moving parts requiring lubrication and placed in a gear case 13 holding the output gear mechanism 50 interlocked with the second drive shaft 32. The second drive shaft 32 is short and light, the outboard motor can be manufactured at a low manufacturing cost and the oil pump 70 is small.

The second drive shaft 32 is disposed rearward of the first drive shaft 31 with respect to a longitudinal direction. The gearing holding portion 21 has a tapered part 21a extending forward from a position corresponding to the second drive shaft 32 and having a front end 21c. The tapered part 21a is tapered toward the front. The disposition of the second drive shaft 32 rearward of the first drive shaft 31 enables forming the gear case 13 in a small size and reduces underwater resistance to the gear case 13.

    • A crawler-belt vehicle is a half crawler vehicle having front wheels furnished with tires, and crawlers on a rear wheel side composed of crawler belts extending between intermediate wheels and rear wheels. The front wheels are larger in diameter than the intermediate wheels and the rear wheels and, hence, have a large ground-contact surface area. Thus, while the vehicle is running on snow, the front wheels are not apt to sink in the snow to a greater extent with the result that the turning characteristic and breakthrough characteristic of the vehicle can be improved. The intermediate wheels may be set to toe in so as to prevent detachment of the crawler belts which would otherwise occur when the sub-beams are slightly flexed or deformed in a lateral outward direction under loads applied thereto while the vehicle is traveling at high speeds on the snow. In order to reduce side slips of the crawler belts, an intermediate line extending parallel to, and passing substantially intermediately between, an axle centerline of the intermediate wheels and an axle centerline of the rear wheels is arranged to meet with a turning center of the right front wheel, and a turning center of the left front wheel at the same point.
