    • An enhanced sheet stripping method and apparatus for stripping toner image carrying copy sheets from a surface of a moving heated fusing member forming a fusing nip. The apparatus includes (a) a moving assembly for moving a cut sheet towards the fusing nip; (b) a sheet curling device positioned upstream of the fusing nip relative to movement of the cut sheet for inducing a desired pre-curl in the cut sheet before the cut sheet enters the fusing nip; and (c) a sheet stripping device positioned downstream of the fusing nip for stripping the cut sheet from contact with the surface of the moving heated fusing member as the cut sheet exits the fusing nip. The method includes inducing a desired curl in the cut sheet before the cut sheet enters the fusing nip and enhanced stripping the cut sheet from contact with the surface of the fuser roll as the cut sheet exits the fusing nip.

    • A high precision-heat fusing device is provided for heating unfused toner images in an electrostatographic reproducing machine. The high precision-heating and fusing apparatus includes (a) an endless rotatable shell defining an interior and having an exterior surface, a first end, a second end, and an axis for rotation; (b) at least six heating elements each having an end-to-end length and being selectively activatable, and arranged end-to-end in series and parallel to the axis of rotation; (c) at least six temperature sensors for sensing a temperature of the exterior surface at axially spaced apart points; and (d) a controller connected to the at least six heating elements and to the at least six temperature sensors for precisely sensing and controlling the temperature of the exterior surface at each of the axially spaced apart points.

    • Apparatuses and methods for forming images on substrates in printing are provided. An exemplary embodiment of the apparatuses includes a first marking station for applying a first ink having a first color to a substrate; a first partial-curing station downstream from the first marking station including a first radiant energy source for irradiating the first ink on the substrate with first radiation to partially-cure the first ink; a second marking station downstream from the first partial-curing station for applying a second ink having a second color to the substrate; a second partial-curing station downstream from the second marking station including a second radiant energy source for irradiating the first ink and the second ink on the substrate with second radiation to further partially-cure the first ink and to partially-cure the second ink; a leveling device formed by a first member and a second member, the first member and second member being configured to apply pressure to the partially-cured first ink and second ink when the substrate is received at a nip to level the first ink and second ink on the surface of the substrate; and a post-leveling curing device for irradiating the as-leveled first ink and second ink on the surface of the substrate to substantially-fully cure the first ink and the second ink.
