摘要： A battery powered volatile dispenser for dispensing a volatile material, the volatile dispenser including a housing having an air inlet, an air outlet, an airflow path therebetween, and a holder for a volatile reservoir for supplying a volatile to be introduced into air flowing in the airflow path. The volatile dispenser has a fan adapted to be powered by a battery, the fan being so located that it propels air through the airflow path and also is unrestrictedly visible to a user of the volatile dispenser. The volatile dispenser also has an electrical power cut-off that activates to cut off power to the fan when the battery voltage drops beneath a selected level greater than zero to provide a prominent visual cue of battery depletion. A method of providing a prominent visual cue of battery or volatile depletion by use of the volatile dispenser is also disclosed.

摘要： A volatile carrier for supplying a volatile ingredient to a heating device to be dispensed thereby, the heating device having a heat transfer site and a pass-through path to receive an inserted volatile carrier at one end of the pass-through path to position the volatile carrier adjacent to the heat transfer site. The volatile carrier has a substantially unitary reservoir block containing a supply of the volatile ingredient. The reservoir block is greater in size than the heat transfer site. An advancement device is supplied by which a user can manually advance the reservoir block past the heat transfer site to expose different portions of the reservoir block to heat. A method of supplying a volatile ingredient to such a heating device by use of such a volatile carrier is also described.

摘要： Disclosed are devices for dispensing air treatment chemicals. There is a substrate bearing a first volatile air treatment chemical that is capable of being dispensed from the substrate when the substrate is heated, and an indicator unit holding a volatile indicator chemical separate from the first volatile air treatment chemical such that the volatile indicator chemical is capable of being dispensed from the unit when the unit is heated. The extent of dispensing of the first volatile air treatment chemical can be indicated by a visible cue whose appearance results from the dispensing of the volatile indicator chemical. In one form the unit also holds a second air treatment chemical. In another the indicator unit is a replaceable cartridge positionable more remote from the heater than the substrate.

摘要： Volatile impregnated substrates, such as wicks and mats, that can be used in a dispensing device that uses a heat source or otherwise uses active means to promote the release of the volatile material from the substrate are disclosed. The preferred substrate has a structure including sand particles adhered together by a binder to form a network of pores and passages. The binder is selected from thermoset polymeric materials and mixtures thereof. A volatile material is disposed in the pores before the substrate is installed in the dispensing device. The impregnated substrate is positioned in the dispensing device on or near the heat source of the dispensing device. The heat source is activated thereby elevating the temperature of the substrate such that volatile material is released from the pores. In one embodiment, the sand particles comprise silica sand and the binder is a cured novolac resin.

The first and second substrates and indicator unit can be in a single replaceable cartridge unit, preferably with the second substrate in the form of a porous ring that houses the indicator unit.
