    • A method, apparatus and program product are provided for servicing a production program. A mirror program is dynamically created using source code associated with the production program. The mirror program includes enhanced serviceability functionally relative to the production program that generates service information relevant to the production program. The mirror program executes while the production program remains in an active state such that the production program may be serviced using service information generated by the mirror program. The source code used to compile the production program is compared to a base line copy of the source code. Portions of the source code that differ from the base line copy of the source code are stored. The stored portions of the source code are associated with a unique identifier which is saved with the compiled production program.

    • The present invention is generally directed towards providing a method, system and article of manufacture for generating and utilizing debug history to improve the debugging process. By providing facilities to store and retrieve debug history records for given events, the present invention allows developers to debug code more efficiently by allowing them to leverage information stored in a debug history repository. Further, the added functionality, related to the debug history, is available via modules that work in conjunction with existing debugger applications and is provided to users via a variety of interfaces including graphic interfaces and plug-in components.

    • A display window is displayed in association with at least one scroll bar at a terminal associated with a first user. Along the shaft of one ore more scroll bars, a distinctive visual location cue, such as a line in a color associated with a second user, is displayed to indicate the relative location within the shared data collection of the current and historical activity of a second user. A user may temporarily prohibit manipulation of a region within the shared data collection by other users by establishing a "lock" on the region. A lock region may comprise several lines of text, a portion of a graphical object, or other data within the shared data collection. To indicate the location of lock regions, lock region location cues are also displayed along the scroll bar. In addition to indicating the location of lock regions, lock region location cues also indicate which user has established a lock region via a distinctive display attribute, preferably a distinctive color associated with the user who established the lock region. The location of a lock region is also indicated within the display area of a window by displaying the lock region with the same distinctive display attribute as the lock region location cue. In addition, when a cursor associated with a user prohibited from manipulating a lock region is located within the lock region, an aspect of the cursor, such as its shape, is altered. A preferred embodiment displays a representation of a key rather than a standard cursor to indicate to a user that his cursor is within a lock region.

    • A data processing system and method of invoking a function within a data processing system are disclosed. The data processing system includes a processing unit, a display device that displays graphical objects in response to receipt of signals from the processing unit, a memory coupled to the processing unit, and a graphical user interface (GUI) manager stored within the memory and executable by the processing unit. In accordance with the method of the present invention, first and second graphical objects are displayed within the display device. The second graphical object includes a plurality of regions that each have an associated function. In response to a selection of the first graphical object, a determination is made whether the first graphical object is within a selected proximity of the second graphical object. If so, a particular region among the plurality of regions of the second graphical object, which would be selected in the event of a deselection of the first graphical object, is graphically indicated. In response to a deselection of the first graphical object while the first graphical object is within the selected proximity of the second graphical object, the function associated with the particular region is performed. In one embodiment of the present invention, the graphical indication of the particular region of the second graphical object comprises a drag pointer that extends between the first graphical object and the particular region. In this embodiment, a textual indication of the action associated with the particular region is also displayed.
