    • A network database. The network database is arranged in a plurality of domains in a logical hierarchy. Each domain of the hierarchy represents a body of information associated with a logically related group of users or related group of computers. A relative naming scheme is implemented in which a domain stores the names of only its parent domain and child domains. This permits reconfiguration of the network to be accomplished without changing the database structure. Each domain stores information in a hierarchical structure known as a "directory." Each directory consists of a list of zero or more "properties," each having an associated name and ordered list of values.

    • A method of providing a fast path message transfer agent is provided. The method includes receiving bytes of a message over a network connection and determining whether the number of bytes exceeds a predetermined threshold. If the number of bytes is less than a predetermined threshold, then the message is written only to memory. However, if the number of bytes exceeds the predetermined threshold, then some of the bytes (e.g. up to the predetermined threshold) are written to memory, wherein the remainder of the bytes are stored onto the non-volatile storage. If the message was received successfully by each destination, then the message is removed from the memory/non-volatile storage. If not, all failed destinations are identified and the message (with associated failed destinations) is stored on the non-volatile storage for later sending.

    • Described herein are devices and techniques for detecting an inbound message (e.g., text, voice, voicemail) directed from an identifiable message sender to one of a collection of message recipients (e.g., by telephone numbers). The message is selectively forwarded to the message recipient's communication devices in response to a reputation score of the identifiable message sender. The devices and techniques described herein are further adapted to automatically determine or otherwise update the reputation score of the identifiable message sender, for example, in response to previously detected incoming messages. User preferences can be provided to override one or more of forwarding and blocking of detected messages regardless of any automatically obtained reputation score.
