    • (EN) The invention relates to a polymer comprising 50-100% by weight, with regard to the weight of the polymers, of repeating units, which are derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), in which R represents hydrogen or methyl; R1 represents a linear or unbranched alkyl radical with 7 to 30 carbon atoms, and; R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen or a group of formula —COOR′, wherein R′ represents hydrogen or an alkyl group with 7 to 30 carbon atoms. The polymer is a star polymer with 3 to 21 arms and at least 3 of the arms consist of at least 40% by weight, with regard to the weight of the arms, of repeating units, which are derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), in which R1 represents a linear or unbranched alkyl radical with 7 to 30 carbon atoms, and; R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen or a group of formula —COOR′, wherein R′ represents hydrogen or an alkyl group with 7 to 30 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to oil formulations comprising the inventive polymers. The inventive polymers having a high thickening action can be used, in particular, as viscosity modifiers, pour point depressants, dispersing agents and/or friction modifiers.

    • The invention relates to comb polymers which comprise, in the main chain, repeating units which are derived from polyolefin-based macromonomers, and repeating units which are derived from low molecular monomers which are selected from the group consisting of styrene monomers having 8-17 carbon atoms, alkyl(meth)acrylates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, vinyl esters having 1-11 carbon atoms in the acyl group, vinyl ethers having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (Di)alkylfumarates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (Di)alkylmaleates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group and mixtures of said monomers. The molar branching degree lies in the region between 0.1-10 mol. % and the comb polymer represents the sum of at least 80 wt. %, in relation to the weight of the repeating units, on repeating units which are derived from polyolefin-based macromonomers, and repeating units which are selected from low molecular monomers which are selected from the group consisting of styrene monomers having 8-17 carbon atoms, alkyl(meth)acrylates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, vinyl esters having 1-11 carbon atoms in the acyl group, vinyl ethers having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (Di)alkylfumarates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (Di)alkylmaleates having 1-10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, and mixtures of said monomers.

    • The invention relates to the use of graft polymers obtained by polymerization in two stages. In a first stage, at least one graft basis is produced by radically polymerizing a monomer composition A) containing 0 to 40 percent by weight of one or several ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl, R1 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen or a group of formula —COOR′, wherein R′ represents hydrogen or an alkyl group comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, 60 to 100 percent by weight of one or several ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (II), wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl, R4 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical comprising 6 to 40 carbon atoms, R5 and R6 independently represent hydrogen or a group of formula —COOR′, wherein R′ represents hydrogen or an alkyl group comprising 6 to 40 carbon atoms, and 0 to 40 percent by weight of comonomers, the percentages being relative to the weight of monomer composition A). In a second stage, a monomer composition B) containing 20 to 100 percent by weight of at least one monomer that comprises at least one nitrogen-containing group is grafted onto the graft basis in order to reduce wear in lubricant oil compositions. Said graft polymer comprises a maximum of 200 ppm of sulfur while the weight ratio between monomer composition A) and monomer composition B) ranges between 99.7:0.3 and 80:20.
