A bag spreading and transfer mechanism spreads a loaded bag and transfers it to a bag closure station for sealing. The mechanism includes bag-supporting structures for supporting the bag during loading transfer and sealing and for expelling a completed package from the machine.

摘要： A process of forming dunnage is disclosed. A chain of interconnected plastic pouches (38) are fed along a path of travel to a fill and seal station (24). The pouches (38) are sequentially opened as each pouch is positioned in the fill station. Each pouch is opened by directing a flow of air through a pouch fill opening (50) to separate a face (46) from a back (48) of each such pouch and continuing the flow of air through each such opening to inflate each opened pouch. Each such inflated pouch is then sealed to create hermetically closed and inflated dunnage units (56). Novel web and dunnage units are also disclosed.

Control structure either allows or disallows the sealing process to continue based upon sensor signals.

摘要： A jam prevention device comprises a light beam source that emits a light beam and is located on a main frame structure of a packaging machine in the machine's sealing section. During operation, the light beam is reflected off two reflective surfaces located on a moveable support operably connected to a prime mover. The reflected beam is received by a receiver located opposite the source. A clamping sub-assembly includes a seal bar and a reciprocatable seal pad housing. The housing is spring-mounted on the clamping sub-assembly and substantially surrounds the seal bar. The reflective devices are mounted on the housing. The prime mover moves the clamping sub-assembly towards a heater bar sub-assembly. The housing defines two cavities for receiving the reflective devices. The movement of the clamping sub-assembly brings a loaded bag into contact with the heater bar sub-assembly for the purpose of effectuating a seal of the bag. The pressure applied by the clamping sub-assembly during the meeting of the clamping sub-assembly and the heater bar sub-assembly causes the housing to move during the sealing process thereby moving the reflective devices into the cavities and disrupting the light beam. A photo-sensor is provided for detecting the reflection of the light beam during the sealing process as just described. Control structure either allows or disallows the sealing process to continue based upon detection of the light beam.

Nips adjacent the load station and at the downstream end of the web feed mechanism have surface speeds exceeding the surface speed of the belts to maintain tension on the web through the web feed mechanism and effect a slight pre-opening of the bags before they are delivered to the load station. Other features include a cantilevered support of the web supply and bagger, a bagger support which functions as a plenum, an improved dancer assembly, and improved application of compressed air for bag opening.

摘要： Apparatus for cutting slaughtered poultry into individual pieces including a keel cutting station for severing a front breast section from the carcass. The station includes a first cutter for cutting a rear portion of the keel and a second, reciprocating cutter for effecting a second cut that intersects a cut made by the first cutter such that the keel is completely severed from the carcass. The movement of the second cutter is coordinated with the movement of a carcass supporting module so that the reciprocating knife remains substantially vertically aligned with the carcass supporting module during the cutting sequence. A size sensor is provided for adjusting the relative position of the reciprocating knife with the module to compensate for changes in bird size. A pair of interconnected actuators provide a three step adjustment for the reciprocating knife. An intermediate conveyor is provided for receiving the severed keel and transferring it to a primary conveyor. Movement in the conveyors are synchronized so that the keel is discharged into a conveyor bin on the primary conveyor that contains the other severed parts of the carcass so that all parts are reunited for further processing or packaging.
