    • An integrated printing system is provided that includes at least one substantially horizontally aligned printing module including an entrance media path and an exit media path; and at least one interface media transport including at least two substantially horizontal media transport paths, wherein the horizontal media transport paths are positioned vertically relative to each other to provide upper and lower horizontal media transport paths and the horizontal media transport paths transport media to the horizontally aligned printing module. The integrated printing system also provides for a horizontal media transport path to transport media to the horizontally aligned printing module in a direction that passes the exit path of the horizontally aligned printing module before passing the entrance media path of the printing module.

    • According to one aspect of this disclosure, a printing apparatus and method is provided. The printing apparatus comprising a media sheet first inverter and a media sheet second inverter, the first inverter and second inverter operatively connected to provide a media sheet pass-through route, wherein the media sheet pass-through route transports a media sheet through the first inverter and the second inverter. According to another aspect of this disclosure, a printing system is disclosed. The printing system comprising an inverter module. The inverter module comprising a first media sheet input/output zone, and a second media sheet input/output zone, the first and second media sheet input/output zones operatively connected to provide a media sheet pass-through route. The inverter module is configured to selectably route a media sheet to a printing device for image transfer and the inverter module is configured to invert a media sheet from the printing device media sheet output.

    • A printing system includes a monochrome marking engine for printing monochrome images and a color marking engine which can print both color and monochrome images. A previewer identifies attributes of the print job, for example, for each page, identifying any monochrome and color images. A user interface enables a user to select a print mode for the print job from a plurality of print modes. A scheduler is responsive to the previewer and the user interface for assigning pages of the print job among the marking engines based on the attributes of the print job and the user-selected print mode. A marking engine controller is in communication with the scheduler for controlling the at least one monochrome marking engine to render pages of the print job assigned thereto and for controlling the at least one color marking engine to render pages of the print job assigned thereto.

    • A system suited to scheduling print jobs for a printing system includes a first processing component which identifies preliminary attributes of print jobs to be printed on sheets. A job scheduler receives the preliminary attributes and assigns each of the print jobs to one of a plurality of job queues in time order for printing. Print jobs spanning the same time are scheduled for printing contemporaneously. In one mode of operation, the assignment of the print jobs to the job queues is based on their preliminary attributes and on the application of at least one constraint which affects contemporaneous printing of at least two of the plurality of print jobs. A second processing component identifies detailed attributes of the print jobs. A sheet scheduler receives information on the assignments of the print jobs and their detailed attributes and forms an itinerary for each sheet to be printed.
