Thus, the time corresponding to the pulse width of the wheel speed pulse takes into consideration the deceleration and traveling distance of the vehicle, thereby obtaining an optimum threshold value for determining the stopping of the wheels.

    • To make a brake device generate a required braking force, a hydraulic control section switches, according to the relative magnitude between the required braking force and a braking force exerted by braking operation, between drive of a pump motor and non-drive of the pump motor and a master cut valve reduces the flow of brake fluid in the direction to a master cylinder. By this, a wheel cylinder maintains hydraulic pressure capable of generating the required braking force. As a result, the pump motor is not necessarily always driven when the required braking force is generated, and the operating time period of the pump motor is reduced. As a result, a load on the pump motor is reduced to enhance durability of the pump motor.

    • Disclosed is a vehicle capable of improving the accuracy of wheel stopping determination. A stopping determination time which is calculated by multiplying the pulse width of a wheel speed pulse immediately before a non-output time, for which no wheel speed pulse is output from a wheel speed sensor 3, by 21/2+1, or a corrected time which is corrected on the basis of the stopping determination time is set as a threshold value for determining stopping of wheels. The wheel speed pulse which is output immediately before the non-output time is output when the wheels are substantially in the stopping state. Thus, the time corresponding to the pulse width of the wheel speed pulse is multiplied by 21/2+1 which is a constant taking into consideration the deceleration and traveling distance of the vehicle, thereby obtaining an optimum threshold value for determining the stopping of the wheels. For this reason, the stopping of the wheels is determined on the basis of the stopping determination time or the corrected time, such that the stopping of the wheels can be determined rapidly and accurately. Therefore, it becomes possible to improve the accuracy of wheel stopping determination.

    • A reference signal having either twice or four times the frequency of a color burst signal (2fsc or 4fsc) is divided into a plurality of divided signals, each having the same frequency as that of the color burst signal, or an fsc frequency. In addition, a reference signal is delayed by a predetermined amount to thereby generate a delay signal. One of the divided signals is output in synchronism with this delay signal as a first divided signal having a predetermined delay. When this first divided signal is used as a color burst signal, the remaining divided signals resultantly all have phases shifted by a predetermined amount with respect to the color burst signal. With this arrangement, some of the divided signals can be used intact as a color signal, while the others may also be used after being delayed by a predetermined amount.
