    • A method and device for operating a fluid-insulated electrical apparatus. The insulation fluid of the electrical apparatus includes at least two components. The method includes the step of determining a physical state of the insulation fluid by measuring at least three measurement variables with sensors. The method further includes the step of deriving trend variables indicative of changes over time for the measurement variables and/or for characterizing variables. These characterizing variables are derived from the measurement variables by using a relating equation, such as an equation of state, and are also indicative of the physical state of the insulation fluid. By testing for specific patterns of the trend variables, an operating state of the electrical apparatus is determined. The possible operating states correspond to specific and distinguishable non-fault and fault scenarios for the electrical apparatus. Thus, operating states can be distinguished and trouble-shooting in case of a failure is simplified.

    • Object oriented design strategies and patterns are applied to financial data processing systems for processing and modeling of financial products (also referred to as financial instruments) with an emphasis being on derivative products. The system employs valuation independent, well-defined financial components (also referred to as financial events) that can be combined to build new financial structures. A general purpose software model is provided for representing the structure and characteristics of these products. A declarative specification language is provided to describe financial instruments in a consistent manner that lends itself to processing in such an object oriented system. A general traversal process is provided that can be applied to the macro structure of a financial instrument to implement various functions that produce results based on such information, such as the stream of financial events associated with the instrument, or the pricing or valuation of the instrument.

    • A method and an apparatus for diagnosis of a flowmeter are disclosed. The method includes thermally coupling a first sensor unit of the flowmeter to a fluid and thermally coupling a second sensor unit of the flowmeter to the fluid. The method also includes actively heating or cooling the first sensor unit by applying power to the first sensor unit such that its temperature is different from the temperature of the fluid, and simultaneously actively heating or cooling the second sensor unit by applying power to the second sensor unit such that its temperature is different from the temperature of the fluid, and typically from the temperature of the first sensor. The method can include determining a temperature TM0 of the fluid, and determining at least two independent quantities related to the heat transfer of the sensor units, each of the at least two independent heat transfer related quantities being determined from at least one element selected from the group including TM0, TM1, TM2, PM1, and PM2, and determining a diagnosis result by setting into relation the at least two independent heat transfer related quantities.
