    • A motion transmitting remote control assembly including a conduit and a core element movably supported by the conduit and extending therefrom to provide a variable extending length of the core element between the conduit and one end of the core element. The extending length defines a line of force. An integral terminal member is disposed on the extended length for operatively interconnecting the core element to a control member to translate movement therebetween along the line of force. The terminal member includes a pocket extending therein and defining an axis perpendicular to the line of force. The pocket includes lips extending radially therein for retaining a ball pin of the control member within the pocket and is characterized by the terminal member including a plurality of slots extending radially from the axis defined by the pocket at an angle relative to the line of force.

    • A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) for transmitting motion in a curved path including a tube member (14) and a rod (18) movably supported by the tube member (14) and extending therefrom to provide a variable extending length of the rod member (18) between the tube member (14) and one end (20) thereof to define a line of force. An integral terminal member (22) operatively interconnects the extending length of the rod member (18) and a control member (24). One of the tubular portions (24) is adapted for attachment to a fluid reservoir wall. A flexible conduit (12) is slideably disposed within the second tubular portion (26). The assembly is characterized by including sealing means comprising O-ring means and a conical swivel cover (34). In one embodiment, the conical swivel cover (34) expands in response to fluid contact to prevent fluid flow from the reservoir and about the conduit (12). In a second embodiment, an O-ring (18) expands in response to fluid contact to prevent such fluid flow.

The cap member (48) allows transmission of a resultant force from the spring (56 ) only in a direction which is aligned with the transverse movement of the latch member (42) to prevent torsional forces from being transmitted to the latch member (42) from the spring (56).

    • A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) of the type for transmitting forces along a curved path by a flexible motion transmitting core element (16) movably supported in a flexible conduit (12). The assembly includes a support member (22) adapted to be connected to a support structure (24) (such as a bulkhead) and the conduit (12) includes a slider member (32) slidably disposed in a passageway extending longitudinally through the support member. The support member includes a transverse guideway (36) in which is disposed a metal L-shaped latch member (38) having an aperture in one leg through which the slider member extends. The bottom of the aperture in the latch member has a tooth (48) which coacts with ratcheting teeth (46, 47) on the slider member. A coil spring (44) urges the tooth of the latch member into engagement with the ratcheting teeth of the slider member. A temperature-responsive slug (50) is disposed in parallel with the coil spring. The assembly is characterized by the ratcheting teeth (36, 37) on the slider member being of two different ramp slopes to provide an initial reduced resistance to longitudinal movement of the slider member (32) through the support member (22).
