摘要： A method and apparatus for processing network origination calls in a hybrid network. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network management system (NMS) having a detection module to detect at a first terminal a network origination call directed to a second terminal, a search module to search a terminal type for each of the first and second terminals according to information supplied in the network origination call, and an enablement module to enable at least one media gateway to provide communication services to each of the first and second terminals identified as a circuit-switched terminal by its corresponding terminal type. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

摘要： A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for identifying a subscriber home domain in a communication network are described. A national subscriber profile is partitioned into regions and a NAPTR resource record is modified to identify in which region a particular subscriber is located. In response to a calling party requesting that a connection to a called party be established, a database is queried to provide a modified NAPTR record which identifies the region in which the called party is located. A connection can then be established without polling each region.

This plurality of responses can be organized by the user in groups associated with classes of callers, such as friends, family, co-workers, etc. In this manner, the responses available to the user when a call is received changes depending on the caller.

摘要： A session request from a first subscriber is received at a first network component of a packet-based network. The session request comprises a request to establish a communications session between the first subscriber and a second subscriber. In the event the session request originated in a trusted network, the first network component permits access to unique resource identifier (URI) information associated with the second subscriber for use in establishing the communications session via the packet-based network. In the event the session request did not originate in a trusted network and in response to determining a security configuration associated with the second subscriber allows the first subscriber to access the URI information under the circumstances, the first network component permits access to the URI information for use in establishing the communications session via the packet-based network. In response to determining the security configuration prohibits access to the URI information by the first subscriber under the circumstances, the first network component forwards the session request to a second network component so as to establish the communications session via a public switched telephone network.
