    • A sound dampening fastening element includes a sound dampening body, an anchoring member and a support member. The dampening body is prism-shaped and formed of a resilient material. The anchoring member has a head and a shank with the head and a portion of the shank embedded within the dampening body and the remaining portion of the shank extending outwardly from the dampening body. The support member is partly embedded within the dampening body and the remaining part extends outwardly from the opposite side of the dampening body from which the shank extends. The support member has a shaped configuration with wall sections within the dampening body combining to form an opening through which the shank extends. The diameter of the opening is greater than the diameter of the shank but smaller than the diameter of the head of the anchoring member. The part of the support member extending outwardly from the dampening body includes openings for receiving a belt-like support element and also a threaded opening.

The expansion wedge (2) has a trailing end section (14) extending rearwardly from the engagement part (5) in the preassembled state so that in the expanded state the expansion wedge is held in a press fit in the throughbore (3).

    • An anchor member assembly is made up of an anchor bolt and an expansion wedge. The assembly can be anchored in a borehole in a receiving material by inserting the assembly and then displacing the expansion wedge relative to a wedge surface on the anchor bolt. At its trailing end, the anchor bolt has an axially extending outwardly flaring head section forming at least a part of a conical surface. The head section can be driven by hammer blows into a wooden member. Initially, the anchor bolt and expansion wedge are in detachable engagement until the head section is driven into the wooden member. Subsequently, as the expansion wedge is axially displaced relative to the anchor bolt, the engagement between them is released and the anchor member assembly is secured in the receiving material.

    • An expansion dowel is made up of an expansion sleeve and an expansion body with a radially outer conically shaped surface. To expand the sleeve, the expansion body is pulled into the leading end of the sleeve. The leading end of the sleeve is connected to the expansion body by two elongated webs. A bridge section on the end of each web forms the connection to the expansion body and the bridge section is breakable under expansion conditions. The expansion dowel can be formed from a single blank of sheet metal in a forming operation.

    • An expansion anchor assembly includes an expansion sleeve formed at least in part by axially extending extension sections, an expansion body and an anchor rod attached to the expansion body. By pulling the expansion body into the end of the sleeve formed by the expansion sections, the sections are spread radially outwardly. An axially extending part of the outside surface of the expansion body is formed by a plurality of outwardly tapering axially extending and circumferentially adjacent convex surfaces having an arc shape in the direction transverse to the axial direction of the expansion body. The radius of curvature of each arc-shaped convex surface is the same over its axial length. Each expansion section of the sleeve has an axially extending radially inner concave surface corresponding to one of the arc-shaped convex surfaces on the expansion body.

    • An expansion dowel arranged to be anchored in a borehole includes an axially extending dowel member having a leading end and a trailing end and being partly sleeve-shaped extending from the trailing end. A wedge-shaped recess is formed inwardly from the outside surface of the dowel with the depth of the recess decreasing toward the leading end of the dowel member. A complementary shaped wedge member is located in the recess and is displaceable therein toward the leading end of the dowel member. An annular groove formed in the dowel member from the leading end toward the trailing end. The depth of the annular groove increases for at least a part of the axial length from the leading end of the dowel member. An expansion member is seated in the annular groove and extends around the dowel member. The expansion member has a stop shoulder located in the path of the wedge member as it is displaced toward the leading end. The wedge contacting the stop member moves the expansion member toward the leading end of the dowel member causing the expansion member to spread radially outwardly. Further, an axial loading on the dowel member at its trailing end tending to pull it out of the borehole effects a post expansion action due to the interaction of the expansion member and the wedge member.

    • A fastening unit for use in a prepared borehole includes an anchoring member and a spreader wedge. The anchoring member is formed from a single piece of metal plate and consists of an axially elongated shank part and a flange at one end of the shank part. The flange extends perpendicularly of the shank part and is bent relative to the shank part so that an arched surface is located between the two parts of the anchoring member. The flange defines an opening through which the wedge extends. The surfaces within the opening of the flange and certain axially extending surfaces of the shank part guide the wedge as it slides axially relative to the anchoring member when the fastening unit is being anchored in a borehole. The wedge guiding surfaces on the anchoring member extend into the axially extending range of the wedge guiding surfaces of the flange.
