摘要： Methods and devices for spacing vertebral members using modular intervertebral devices and insertion tools. The devices may include opposing first and second endplates, and an intermediate member configured to fit between and support the endplates. The insertion tool may include an elongated handle and a distracter. A method of inserting the device using the tool may include inserting the endplates positioned on opposing sides of the handle into the intervertebral space and positioning the endplates in the intervertebral space relative to first and second vertebral members. The method may include deploying the distracter and increasing a distance between the endplates. Another step may include inserting the intermediate member into the intervertebral space and between the endplates and supporting the endplates with the intermediate member. The insertion tool may then be removed from the intervertebral space.

摘要： A patient support having a frame supporting a patient supporting surface as well as supporting a pair of foot rest mechanisms thereon. The pair of foot rest mechanisms are each selectively movable from stowed positions beneath the patient supporting surface to deployed positions thereof which straddle a drop leaf foot section forming a part of the patient supporting surface. As the drop-leaf foot section is moved to a vertically upright position, a space between the two foot rest mechanisms is available for physician use. Further, as the drop leaf foot section is moved in the vertically upright position toward the floor, a mechanism is provided for preventing contact of the foot end of the drop leaf foot section with the floor.

The prosthetic disc system has a nucleus component having an upper surface configured to engage a superior vertebra and a lower surface configured to engage an inferior vertebra, an anchor configured to affix to an anterior surface of at least one of the superior vertebra or the inferior vertebra, and a tether tying the nucleus component to the anchor. In such embodiments, the nucleus component further has a perimeter situated substantially between the upper surface and the lower surface of the nucleus component and the tether is at least partially situated on the perimeter of the nucleus component. In certain embodiments, the upper surface and the lower surface of the nucleus component are configured to allow for implantation of the disc system such that after a discectomy, no preparation of at least one of the superior and inferior vertebrae is necessary.

摘要： A patient support apparatus having a base, a litter frame, an elevation mechanism interconnecting the base to the litter frame and being configured to effect changes in elevation of the litter frame relative to the base. The litter frame includes a pair of laterally spaced and longitudinally extending support rails and a plurality of laterally extending support rails interconnecting the longitudinally extending support rails so that the litter frame has a rectangular configuration. Selected ones of the laterally extending support rails are mounted to the elevation mechanism. On the aforesaid litter frame there is mounted various modules, namely, (1) a patient support deck, (2) a set of lateral edge siderails, (3) a holder for bottled gas, (4) an attendant work surface, oriented beneath the head section when the head section is in a horizontal position, (5) a seat, thigh and foot section assembly, and (6) a head section having manipulatable controls thereon supportingly secured to the litter frame separately from the seat, thigh and foot section assembly.
