An axial guide assembly (70) has one end (44a) fixed to the apex (38a) and at the other end has a bayonet mechanism (76) connectable to a drive handle. Rim cutting teeth (36a) are set into the rim (34) to cut a cylindrical profile (21a), and bevel cutting teeth (96) integral to the struts (94) cut a bevel (25) onto the cylindrical form (21a) cut into the bone (20). A guide pin bore (12a) passes through the apex (38a)and the guide assembly (70) concentric with the axis of rotation (18) to receive a guide pin (14) to guide the reamer (10a) in cutting alignment relative to the joint bone (20) to be cut.

    • A guided reamer (10) has a central cannulation (12, 12a) adapted to receive a drill pin (14) secured in a manner which is axially aligned with the stem (22) of the bulbus bone joint (20). The reamer (10)has a profile cutting form (24) with cutting teeth (40) formed therein for cutting a form of a defined profile. The reamer (10) has a circumferential rim (34) having rim cutting teeth (36) disposed to cut to an outside of the rim and an inside of the rim, having face cutting teeth (37) adapted to cut an annular channel into bone and a plurality of planing teeth (52) radially disposed on an internal surface adjacent an axial end boss (44). The cannulation (12, 12a) is supported at the apex of the cutting form (24) and is formed in a guide assembly (70, 70′) affixed to the apex. The guide assembly (70, 70′) is adapted for imparting rotation to the reamer (12). The reamer (10) is adapted to be supported by a cannulated reamer handle (74) having a bayonet locking device (76) capable of locking the handle (74) to the guide assembly (70, 70′) of the cannulated reamer (10) and a corresponding central cannulation (86), permitting the drill pin (14) to pass at least part way therethrough.

    • Disclosed is a surgical tool holder 11 adapted to connect to a disposable cutting tool 12, and the surgical instrument 10 combination. The tool holder 11 has a shank 14 with a quick tool coupling 24 at one end 16 and a drive adaptor 20 at a second end 22. The coupling assembly 24 has a coupling interface 40 for holding the tool 12, and has a debris reservoir 44. A locking mechanism 26 is engageable with the shank 14 by a lock interface 95 that holds the coupling assembly in functional assembly, and when unlocked allows component parts of the coupling assembly to be separated for cleaning and sterilization. The surgical tool 12 has a flat base 104 and complementary fittings 114 adapted to be received by the holder's coupling interface. The combination of the flat base 104 with the reservoir 44 defines a relatively enclosed collection space 46 to receive cutting debris from the tool 12 while the holder 11 and tool 12 are coupled together.
