    • A method and apparatus for transferring a workpiece quickly and which can handle a variety of workpieces even of different outside sizes, and can accurately position workpieces. Workpieces on a transfer surface are adjusted in position to maintain an interval between the workpieces at a certain value. Along the transfer surface are disposed two belts on which are provided first and second holders raised above the transfer surface and which contact the workpiece at its front and rear edges. The holders, which are separately formed on the belt, cooperate with each other to hold the workpieces. The apparatus is also provided with a driving force which is able to change the rotational phase between the two belts. By changing the phase between the belts, the interval between the holders in the transfer direction can be varied in accordance with the size of the workpiece to be transferred.

    • In a process for producing a magnetic disk cartridge by welding two cassette shell halves for constituting a cassette shell of a magnetic disk cartridge to each other, a first fitting part is formed on an inner side of one of the two cassette shell halves. The first fitting part serves to adjust the position of the one cassette shell half with respect to the position of the other cassette shell half. A second fitting part is formed on an inner side of the other cassette shell half, which second fitting part is to be fitted to the first fitting part in order to adjust the position of the other cassette shell half with respect to the position of the one cassette shell half. Projections for ultrasonic welding are formed on a fitting surface of at least either one of the first and fitting parts. While the first and second fitting parts are being fitted to each other, energy of ultrasonic welding is concentrated upon the projections for ultrasonic welding, and the two cassette shell halves are thereby welded to each other.

    • A magnetic disc cartridge includes a casing formed by upper and lower shells bonded together. A magnetic disc is supported for rotation in the casing and includes a recording area and a non-recording area around the recording area. A pair of liners are fixed respectively to the inner surfaces of the upper and lower shells to be opposed to the upper and lower surfaces of the disc. Each of the upper and lower shells is provided with at least one protrusion projecting toward the disk from a portion of the inner surface which is outside the portion of the shell opposed to the recording area of the magnetic disc and is opposed to at least a part of the non-recording area of the magnetic disc, whereby the liners on the respective shells are shifted toward the disk from the inner surfaces of the shells by the protrusions.
