    • A thermal printer in which a sheet of recording paper is held by and between a thermal print head includes a plurality of heat generating elements and a platen drum, the amounts of heat of the heat generating elements are selectively changed, and an image is printed onto the recording paper. In the thermal printer, a printing position is set just behind a clamp position at which a clamp clamps the leading end of the recording paper onto the platen drum. Therefore, the image printing can be started immediately after the clamp position passes through the thermal head, with the recording paper being in part wound around the platen drum by the thermal printer. As a result, the time taken from paper feeding to printing starting can be reduced.

    • An image pickup device which, in placing a phase type optical low pass filter in front of a taking lens, is able to cope with the varying focal distances of the taking lens only by a single piece of phase type optical low pass filter and which is also able to obtain a large quantity of information to be used for focusing detection in the auto focusing (AF) operation. The image pickup device is composed of a taking lens having a variable focal distance, a solid state image pickup element on which an object light image is formed through the taking lens, a phase type optical low pass filter which is disposed in front of the taking lens in a freely rotatable manner, and a device for rotating the phase type optical low pass filter according to the focal distances of the taking lens so as to be able to remove a given spatial frequency component corresponding to the pixel pitch of the solid state image pickup element. The image pickup device further includes a device which, when an AF detect circuit executes a focusing detection operation, rotates the optical low pass filter 90.degree. from a state in which the spatial frequency component in the horizontal direction can be removed, or retreats the optical low pass filter from a photograph optical system, and also which returns the optical low pass filter to its original state when photographing.

    • A memory cartridge loading/unloading device is disclosed which loads and unloads a memory cartridge from an apparatus for using the memory cartridge by means of motor driving. In the loading/unloading device, until the memory cartridge reaches a given position within a main body of the apparatus, the memory cartridge is pulled in by rotating a roller which presses against the memory cartridge such that there can be produced a given friction force with respect to the memory cartridge. When the memory cartridge reaches the given position, then an engagement member is brought into engagement with the memory cartridge and then the engagement member is moved in a cartridge insertion direction by means of motor driving, so that the memory cartridge can be pushed into a connector disposed within the apparatus main body.

    • A multi view imaging device according to an aspect of the present invention detects vibration applied to a plurality of imaging means and corrects, for each of a plurality of imaging means, an image blur of a subject image taken by the imaging means caused by the vibration. The image blur is corrected to make the amounts of remaining blur of the image blur after the correction substantially the same among the plurality of imaging means. As a result, even if there are variations in operation characteristics and installation errors of image blur correction means arranged on the imaging means, an appropriate image blur correction can be performed for each imaging means. Since the amounts of remaining blur of the subject image after the image blur correction in the imaging means are substantially the same, a comfortable, natural parallax image that is good for eyes can be obtained.
