    • When read image data is mapped outside the range of a page memory, the invention allows a coordinate value to be stored in the page memory to be mapped after being shifted into the page memory, thereby allowing efficient utilization of the page memory, and in order to achieve the above-described object, the invention employs the configuration that when an integral number coordinate value (X.sub.int, Y.sub.int) is out of the range of an image memory, an X-coordinate conversion circuit and a Y-coordinate conversion circuit shift the coordinate value so that it comes in the range and outputs a coordinate value (XINT, YINT) and this shifting process allows read image data outside the image memory to be shifted into the area of the image memory to be stored therein and when image data stored in the image memory is read out, the coordinate is read out in reverse on the assumption that a shifted origin coordinate O (X.sub.smin, Y.sub.smin) serves as the coordinate origin of the image memory and the origin coordinate O (X.sub.smin, Y.sub.smin) is automatically stored in a register when the reading of the image is completed.

    • A scanner for reading an original image by hand scanning usually detects scanning positions of the reading sensor on the original image sequentially and stores read image data into image memory according to said scanning positions. However, an area in which the image data is not stored may appear when free scanning is done such that its pixel density exceeds a permitted limit. This area, if it appears, degrades the quality of the image which is reproduced in the image memory. The scanner of the invention detects the area in which the image data has not been stored, and prevents the appearance of such an area in the resulting image. It also judges an abnormal state that is beyond the prevention capacity and informs the operator of such a state. Furthermore, when it detects a scanning error caused by sensor problems, it halts storing the image data and informs the operator of the scanning error.

    • An object of the invention is to provide an image processing device with which color processing can be adjusted with ease. An image processing device (10) is provided with a processing degree setting portion (18), a profile creation portion (15), and a color processing execution portion (16). The processing degree setting portion (18) sets a target degree of color processing with regard to at least two properties of a plurality of properties of an image signal (d2), as a single target processing degree (d8). The profile creation portion (15) creates a color transformation profile for performing color processing at the target processing degree (d8), based on the target processing degree (d8) that has been set by the processing degree setting portion (18) and a plurality of base color transformation profiles for performing the color processing to differing degrees. The color processing execution portion (16) performs color processing with respect to the image signal (d2) using the color transformation profile that has been created by the profile creation portion (15).
