    • An apparatus for the treatment of materials has a series of beams connected end to end and supported concentrically within a cylindrical vessel, the materials to be treated being wound on the individual beams. The vessel has an inlet at its one end for introduction of treatment liquid, a plurality of first outlets at its bottom for discharging a portion of the treatment liquid out of the vessel, and at least one second outlet at its top for discharging the remaining treatment liquid out of the vessel. Each first outlet is located centrally of one of the beams, and the second outlet is radially aligned with a joint between an adjacent pair of the beams. A pressure-control tank is disposed above the vessel and extends substantially through the length thereof. The tank is connected to the vessel by a plurality of connection pipes for liquid communication therebetween, the connection pipes being spaced apart from one another substantially at regular distances along the vessel. At least one of the connection pipes is radially aligned with the second outlet that is radially aligned with a joint between an adajcent pair of the beams.

    • The present invention is to provide hollow particles with a low degree of agglomeration and having a high roundness, and a process for producing them. Hollow particles comprising a silicon compound, having an average particle size of from 5 to 65 nm and an average roundness of at least 0.90, and having a shell comprising the silicon compound and having a thickness of from 1 to 20 nm. Further, a method for producing hollow particles, which comprises adding sulfuric acid to a liquid containing spherical organic polymer-silicon compound composite particles having a core comprising an organic polymer and a shell comprising a silicon compound in a medium containing at least 95 mass % of water, followed by heating to carbonize the organic polymer thereby to convert it to a carbide, and subjecting the carbide to decomposition using a liquid oxidizing agent other than sulfuric acid.

    • A dyeing apparatus is disclosed, which comprises a vessel and a perforated cylinder or beam concentrical thereto, the cylinder having a material wound thereon which is to be dyed. The apparatus includes means for isolating idle space within the vessel from the dye liquid circulating region and means for supplying compressed air to the circulating region to dewater the dyed material upon completion of a cycle of dyeing operation. A stream of compressed air permeates the wet material and takes the moisture away as an entrainment. The same apparatus can perform both the dyeing and the drying operation.
