摘要： A flat cathode ray display tube has an envelope divided into front and rear portions by a partition carrying frame deflection electrodes with an electron gun (30) and line scanning deflector positioned in the rear portion, the electron beam being directed initially parallel to a flat faceplate of the envelope, turned through 180.degree. by a reversing lens into the front portion and then deflected by electrodes towards a screen on the faceplate. In addition to the electrodes, other components are also mounted on the partition forming a sub-assembly whereby correct mutual positioning is ensured and assembly facilitated. A spacing structure accurately spaces the sub-assembly from the faceplate and supports also an electron multiplier for beam current amplication.

摘要： In a cathode ray display tube including a screen carried on a flat faceplate of an envelope and a channel plate electron multiplier arranged parallel to, and spaced from, the screen having an input side across which an electron beam is scanned and an output side from which a current multiplied beam is directed onto the screen, the multiplier is supported away from the screen by a spacing frame engaging with the periphery of its output side and is clamped against the frame by a pressure member having a plurality of resilient fingers spaced at intervals around the edges of the multiplier and engaging with the input side thereof. In this way, minor local surface profile variations of the multiplier are accomodated. The fingers serve also as contacts for the input side electrode of the multiplier.

摘要： A cathode ray tube has an envelope comprising a flat glass faceplate covering an opening defined by a side wall of a metal rear housing and sealingly mounted on a flange provided on the side wall. To increase its flexibility and enable the flange surface adequately to conform with the faceplate edge and accommodate deflections thereof upon, for example, evacuation of the envelope, particularly when a glass frit seal is used, the flange is formed so that it extends from the side wall in one direction, either inwardly or outwardly of the opening, and turns back on itself to provide an outer surface onto which the faceplate edge is bonded. By spacing the portions of the flange extending in opposite directions slightly apart, minor variations in the flatness of the faceplate and/or flange surface can also be accommodated.

摘要： In a flat cathode ray display tube having an electron gun adjacent a rear wall of the tube's envelope which produces an electron beam travelling across the rear wall before being turned in the opposite direction and then deflected onto a screen carried by faceplate opposite the rear wall, getter means is situated in one or more recesses, each defined at least in part by an elongate rib formed in the rear wall, e.g. by pressing, with the recess wall shielding the getter means directly from the gun to prevent contamination. The rib serves also to strengthen the rear wall. A line scanning deflector is similarly shielded.
