    • To control a temperature of a rotating member for fixing an image during standby, an image forming device can suppress overshoot of the temperature of the rotating member occurred when a fixing state is switched to a standby state. Determining the standby temperature is higher than the fixing temperature (Step S103: YES), a CPU 61 controls a temperature of a heating roller 51 to be kept substantially at a first temperature (Step S104). After a lapse of first given time (Step S105: YES), the CPU 61 stops rotation of the heating roller 51, a fixing roller 52 and the pressure roller 54 (Step S107). The CPU 61 controls the temperature to be kept substantially at the second temperature (Step S108). After a lapse of second given time (Step S109: YES), the CPU 61 controls the temperature to be kept substantially at the standby temperature, and switches to the standby state.

    • A fixing device has a heating roller and a pressurizing belt which convey the a recording material in mutual contact while fixing a toner on the recording material, a heater which heats the heating roller, a noncontact first thermister which detects a surface temperature of the heating roller in a position located apart from a surface of the heating roller, a pressurizing unit which is placed inside the pressurizing belt, a second thermister which detects a temperature of the pressurizing unit; and a control section which adjusts the surface temperature of the heating roller by controlling the heater on the basis of a detection temperature of the first thermister and a detection temperature of the second thermister. Thus, fixing device is capable of suppressing a temperature difference generated in noncontact temperature detecting sections and obtaining a stable fixed image performance.

    • An image forming apparatus has a heating rotator 12 that is heated by a first heat source 18, a pressurizing rotator 24 that is heated by a second heat source 28, that is in pressure contact with the heating rotator 12, and that forms a fixing nip 26 between the pressurizing rotator 24 and the heating rotator 12, a temperature sensor St that detects a temperature in the apparatus, and a controller 124 that controls temperatures of the heating rotator 12 and of the pressurizing rotator 24 by on-off control over the first heat source 18 and the second heat source 28, respectively, and that sets the temperature of the pressurizing rotator 24 higher than a normal temperature on condition that the temperature detected by the temperature sensor St exceeds a specified value.

    • In a fixing device, having a sheet portion and an inter-sheet portion, heats and fixes the toner image onto each of sheets by rotationally bringing the sheet portion into contact with each sheet. A heating unit heats the fixing unit. A sensing unit senses a temperature of the fixing unit. A control unit controls a duty ratio of on/off of the heating unit based on a sensing output of the sensing unit, determines whether the sensing unit is sensing the temperature of the sheet portion or the temperature of the inter-sheet portion in a rotation cycle, and controls the temperature of the heating unit by using the adjustment value corresponding to the sheet portion or the inter-sheet portion depending on a determination result.

    • A fixing device includes a pressure thermister for detecting temperature of a pressure roller. The fixing device also includes a thermal coating member on the opposite side of the pressure roller with respect to the pressure thermister. The thermal coating member has a thermal conductivity of 10W/m·K or more. The heat from the pressure roller is easily transferred to the thermal coating member because of the high thermal conductivity, so that the thermal coating member becomes warm quickly. This increases a temperature rise rate in the pressure thermister and therefore reduces time taken for warm-up of the fixing device.
