    • The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus including a sustain driving apparatus that supplies a sustain signal to a panel. The plasma display apparatus includes a panel in which a front substrate having formed first and second electrodes therein and a rear substrate are coalesced, a sustain driver including a first switch for applying a first voltage to any one of the first and second electrodes and a second switch for applying a second voltage, and a circuit protection unit that controls one of the first and second switches, which has a voltage higher than a predetermined voltage, at its both ends, not to turn on. According to the present invention, when a voltage at both ends of the switch included in the sustain driving apparatus in order to supply the sustain signal is higher than a reference voltage, the switch is controlled not to turn on. It is therefore possible to prevent damage due to the short of the sustain driving apparatus and, therefore, to improve the lifespan and reliability of a product.

    • A plasma display panel employs a voltage circuit having an input and an output, the voltage circuit configured for supplying a negative voltage for an electrode. The plasma display panel also employs a power supply that has a positive terminal and a negative terminal, where the negative terminal is connected to the input of the voltage circuit. The power supply is otherwise configured relative to the voltage circuit such that the voltage difference between the output and the input of the voltage circuit is fixed as a function of the power supply. By fixing this voltage difference, parasitic capacitance is minimized, power consumption and calorific value are reduced, and the plasma display panel operates in a more stable manner.

    • A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided. The plasma display apparatus comprises a plasma display panel comprising a scan electrode; and a driver for supplying a voltage of a rising signal with a gradually rising voltage and a voltage of a scan signal of a negative polarity direction, which are supplied to the scan electrode, using one voltage source. The plasma display apparatus comprises a plasma display panel comprising a scan electrode; and a driver for supplying a voltage of a rising signal with a gradually rising voltage, a voltage of a falling signal with a gradually falling voltage, and a voltage of a scan signal of a negative polarity direction, which are supplied to the scan electrode, using one voltage source. The method of driving a plasma display apparatus comprises applying a rising signal, which rises from a first voltage to a second voltage, to a scan electrode during a reset period; and applying a scan signal of a magnitude, which equals to a magnitude of a difference between the first voltage and the second voltage, to the scan electrode during an address period.
