    • A vibration damper suppresses squeaks of a disk brake by positively damping vibrations of the brake. It is a high-performance, highly reliable vibration damper with no accurate machining required. This vibration damper has pressing pistons received in brake pistons so that brake fluid pressure acts thereon. It further includes a vibration detector for detecting brake vibrations through one of two pads, and a vibration imparter for vibrating the other pad based on detection signals of the vibration detector so as to cancel out the vibrations detected by the vibration detector. They are pressed against the back of the respective pads by the respective pressing pistons. By pressing them at a suitable pressure against the pads, it is possible to detect vibrations and vibrate the pads with high reliability. When replacing the pads, they never protrude from the pad pressing surfaces, so that they are less likely to be damaged or destroyed.

    • A contour correcting circuit sharpens only the rising and falling edges of a video signal, without increasing the shoot levels of the video signal, to improve image sharpness on picture. Second, third, fourth and fifth delayed signals are formed, respectively by delaying an inputted first signal by a first delay time, a second delay time longer than the first delay time, a third delay time longer than the second delay time, and a fourth delay time longer than the third delay time in sequence, respectively. A first contour signal G is formed on the basis of a sixth signal obtained by subtracting the second signal from the third signal and a seventh signal obtained by subtracting the fourth signal from the third signal. A second contour signal representative of contour components is formed on the basis of the first signal, the third signal and the fifth signal. An eighth signal representative of contour emphasizing components is formed on the basis of the first contour signal and the second contour signal. Finally, a contour corrected output signal is outputted by adding the third signal and the eighth signal.

    • A vibration damper for detecting vibrations of break pads and vibrating the pads in such a way as to damp the vibrations detected. The damper has the function of adjusting control constants for a control circuit according to the degree of deterioration with time, of the pads due to wear so that vibrations of the pads can be damped in an optimum manner. A vibration detector means detects frictional vibrations of the pads and the disk rotor.     • A video IF signal detector includes a first phase detector detecting a phase difference between an input video IF a signal and a first reference signal. A low pass filter acts on an output signal from the first phase detector. A VCO generates the first reference signal and a second reference signal in response to an output signal from the low pass filter. The first reference signal and the second reference signal have a fixed phase relation with each other. The first phase detector, the low pass filter, and the VCO compose a PLL. A second phase detector detects a phase difference between the input vido IF signal and the second reference signal and extracts a baseband video signal from the input video IF signal. The PLL is enabled during a first period where the input video IF signal is independent of display information. The PLL is disabled during a second period where the input video IF signal represents the display information.

    • A vibration damper can suppress squeals of a brake in a positive and reliable manner while consuming less electric power. The damper has a vibration detector for detecting vibrations of the brake, and a vibrator for applying vibrations to the brake pad based on a detection signal from the vibration detector. An actuator circuit for actuating the vibration detector and vibrator is connected to a car battery through a changeover switch and another switch. These switches are closed only if a brake switch is detecting that the brake is being applied and a vehicle stop detector is detecting that the vehicle is not moving. When the switches are closed, electricity is supplied to the actuator circuit, so that the vibration detector and vibrator are actuated by the actuator circuit. With this arrangement, the damper is kept deactivated when it is unnecessary or detrimental to apply vibrations to the brake. Since it is activated only when necessary, it consumes less electric power.
