    • An optical deflector has a supporter. A movable plate has a mirror face for reflecting light. At least one elastic member is provided for connecting the movable plate and the supporter and holding the movable plate so that the movable plate can deflect. A driving coil is formed in a ring form on the movable plate in such a manner that the driving coil passes near a movable end of the movable plate when the movable plate deflection-moves. A magnet and a magnetic yoke generate a closed magnetic circuit for applying a magnetic field to the driving coil in the direction substantially parallel to the plane of the movable plate. The magnet or the magnetic yoke generating the closed magnetic circuit is arranged at a position opposite to the movable end of the movable plate outside the driving coil, and at a position near the movable plate inside the driving coil to form a magnetic gap.

    • An optical deflector has a support. A movable plate is formed with a mirror for reflecting light from a light source. The mirror is formed on at least one surface of the movable plate. An elastic member couples the movable plate and the support to hold the movable plate in a deflectable manner. A driving coil is formed on at least one surface of the movable plate. A magnetic field producing means produces a magnetic field in a direction substantially parallel to the surface of the movable plate. The interaction between a current flow in the driving coil and a magnetic field produced by the magnetic field producing means causes elastic deformation of the elastic member, which, in turn, deflects the movable plate. A Hall element detects the deflection angle of deflection motion of the movable plate.

    • An electric charge generator for use in an apparatus for producing an electrostatic latent image includes a plurality of charge generation controlling devices, each charge generation controlling device including: an insulating substrate; a line electrode formed on the insulating substrate; a solid dielectric film formed on the surface of the line electrode; a finger electrode having a hole for generating an electric charge, the hole being formed in the central part of the finger electrode, the finger electrode being formed on the solid dielectric film; a solid insulating film having a hole for passing the electric charge, the hole being formed in the central part of the solid insulating film, the solid insulating film being formed on the finger electrode; and a screen electrode having a hole for ejecting the electric charge, the hole being formed in the central part of the screen electrode, the screen electrode being formed on the surface of the finger electrode via the solid insulating film; wherein the plurality of charge generation controlling devices are arranged on the insulating substrate so as to form the electric charge generator. The solid insulating film is formed of a multilayer solid insulating film including a surface-side layer made of an inorganic insulating film and a substrate-side layer made of an organic insulating film whereby the durability and the reliability are improved.
