    • An apparatus has a first conveyor for conveying a recording medium into an image forming unit which forms an image on a recording medium, a second conveyor for re-conveying the recording medium having an image formed thereon by the image forming unit to the second conveyor, and a curl straightener, formed by a plurality of rollers forming a bent path within the second conveyor, for straightening the curl on the recording medium. The conveyance speed of the second conveyor is switchable between a first speed equal to the conveyance speed of the first conveyor and a second speed which is greater than the first speed. The first speed is the speed of the recording medium until at least a predetermined length of the recording medium passes the curl straightener, and the second speed is the speed of the recording medium after passage therethrough. When image formation is performed in either two-side image forming mode of multiplex mode, it is possible to increase productivity during image formation by allowing the recording medium with the image to take a sufficient time to pass the curl straightener and thereafter re-conveying the recording medium at a higher speed to the image forming section.

    • An image forming apparatus includes an image reader for reading information about an image on a document, a sheet support disposed below the image reader and arranged for supporting sheets thereon, and an image forming unit disposed between the image reader and the sheet support. A body of the image forming apparatus has at least one of the image reader, the sheet support and the image forming unit, and provides a sheet discharging space into which a sheet having an image formed thereon by the image forming unit is discharged, where the image reader, the sheet support, and the image forming unit are arranged around the sheet discharging space. The image forming apparatus further includes an opening unit for exposing the image forming unit to the exterior of the image forming apparatus through the sheet discharging space.

    • In an image reading apparatus, an image is illuminated to be guided as a light beam to a photosensitive drum through an image forming lens. Light amount correcting members are attached to a movable member movably attached relatively to the image forming lens. The movable member moves in the optical axis direction in accordance with movement of the image forming lens, and one of the light amount correcting members farther from the image forming lens is caused to face a corresponding surface of the image forming lens so as to intercept a part of the light beam from the image in association with the movement of the movable member. The other of the light amount correcting members closer to the image forming lens is caused to retract from a corresponding surface of the image forming lens in association with the movement of the movable member.
