    • A motor 2 has a motor flange 6 for supporting the weight of the motor and is installed on a blower casing 5. The motor flange 6 has a dimension in the radial direction of the motor which is smaller than the outer diameter of the fan 1 and extends in the radial direction of the motor 2 from an outer peripheral portion of the motor 2. A motor casing 5 is formed by a flange portion 5a having an outside installing portion 5m and an inside supporting portion 5n, and a cylindrical shaped housing portion 5b. The outside installing portion 5m has a dimension in the radial direction of the motor which is larger than the outer diameter of the fan 1 and the inside supporting portion 5n has a dimension in the radial direction of the motor which is smaller than the outer diameter of the fan 1. The motor 2 is installed on the blower casing 4 through the outside installing portion 5m of the motor casing 5. Due to the configuration of the housing portion 5b, a space s is formed which establishes a non-contacting condition between the inner peripheral portion of the housing portion 5b and the outer peripheral portion of the motor 2, except for the motor flange 6, and the motor 2 is enclosed outside of the blower casing 4 by the housing portion 5b.

    • A circuit disconnecting member that blows on receiving radiant heat generated by heat generation of a motor circuit is connected to a motor circuit, the blowing temperature being a temperature lower than a thermal breakdown temperature of a combustible substance around the motor circuit, whereby the motor circuit is shut off, when the peripheral part of the motor circuit generates heat, to stop heat generation before an insulation cover or a contact case is subjected to thermal connection breakage. An engine starting device is prevented from being subjected to a thermal breakdown by a small-size, simple construction and an inexpensive technique without impairing the mounting layout properties of the starting motor and the performance within the rated use.

    • An air induction system for an automotive air-conditioner has an air switching housing connected to the suction opening of a blower casing. The housing is provided with a fresh outdoor air induction opening formed in the top wall opposing the suction opening, and a recirculated indoor air induction opening formed in a side wall adjacent to the top wall. An air-switching door is provided for selectively opening and closing the outdoor air induction opening and the indoor air opening. The air-switching door is foldable substantially at its mid portion so that, when the door closes the indoor air induction opening, it is folded to provide a small effective area, while, when it closes the outdoor air induction opening, it is extended to provide a large effective area. The system further has auxiliary indoor air induction openings formed in other side walls and an accordion-type shutter for selectively closing and opening the auxiliary indoor air induction opening. The air switching door and the accordion-type shutter are operatively connected such that, when the door opens the outdoor air induction opening and closes the indoor air opening, the shutter closes the auxiliary indoor air induction openings.
