摘要： A system for detecting newton ring mura on a display includes sensing an image of the display with an image capture device and determining a border boundary of an illuminated portion of the display. The image is spatially filtered as defined by the border boundary using a filter that reduces sensor noise and a grid pattern of the display. The spatially filtered image is processed to determine if a region proximate a pixel location is a potential newton ring mura defect and characterizing the potential newton ring mura defects to remove at least one of the potential newton ring mura defects.

The backlight includes a plurality of spaced apart light waveguides and a plurality of selection elements associated with the light waveguides that change the characteristics of the material of the light waveguides to selectively direct the transmission of light toward the liquid crystal layer. The combination of the waveguides and the selection elements provide light to the front of the display in a non-uniform temporal manner and a non-uniform spatial manner during a frame.

摘要： Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for performing white balance operations for an LED display backlight. One method comprises obtaining display parameters and capturing sensor data for a display. Geometrical calibration between the captured sensor data and the display is performed. Color conversion matrices for the display backlight may also be calculated. The backlight is displayed at a selected white value and measurement of the actual color of the backlight is then performed. Next a target luminance is determined based on the measured backlight color and minimization of visible luminance variation. A target color is then determined and used to determine a color difference between the measured backlight color and the target color. From this a normalized RGB color difference and RGB color difference driving values are determined. New RGB driving values based on the RGB color difference values and original driving values are then determined.
